Hey
I have done the TKTS booth a few times, but never paid attention to one thing....
When you ask for the show, do you get to see what seats you are being offered BEFORE you pay?
The times I have gone I was happy with my seats, but what if I wee being offered row A (neck pains)or a nose bleed seat I didn't want?
I want to take advantage of TKTS this spring and summer more often....

If I remember correctly, the last time I used them to see "Curtains" they showed me where the seats were before I purchased them.

Certainly....I've done it often. BUT be prepared....the reps SOMETIMES get testy about it. But it is certainly you're right, and you'll never see those folks again.

I bought tickets for Forbidden Broadway a couple of weeks ago and was told my seat location (row J orchestra) before purchase. They usually tell you the location and price beforehand.

I also love that the main booth takes credit. I thought it would slow things down, but I tried it myself and they are fast with the credit card machine (and take Discover!).

thanks guys. I mean, it is our right to know what we are getting. It's not like I'd ask 50 "touristy" questions anyway. ...lol...just where the seats are ...

If the seats are partial view or first row, they'll tell you beforehand.

I usually buy all of my tickets ahead of time with the exception of one day just so I can go to TKTS. I just find it fun to stand in line, chat with people and wonder what they will have left by the time I get to the window!

I never really minded the lilne either and since I often go by myself have often chatted up a storm with others waiting in line.

I have to admit: I haven't used tkts in quite some time!

I usually buy my tickets ahead of time also. I like to KNOW that I'll be seeing something, not "hopefully" hehe
For me, TKTS provides spontaneity and see something I might have not seen otherwise.

I completely contradicted myself in my last post lol oh, well, you know what I meant.
I often go by myself to shows, so getting in line and chatting, then seeing the area in my own time is exactly what i need on my day off

I also find the more shows I see...and the last 4 to 5 years I've been seeing GADS of shows....the less I WANT to rely on TKTS.

I always ask and usually get a "you might lose the tickets!" because they don't wanna show me, but I never lose them.

I don't actually use TKTS that much anymore myself. I saw 8 shows a couple of weeks back and only used TKTS once (for Forbidden Broadway). I've had luck with TDF/rush/discount codes, and for the shows I want to see that offer none of the above, I will spring for the cheaper seats.

I'm not a huge fan of when the line gets super long at the redesigned TKTS though. During Christmas the line wrapped across the street and people were losing their place in line when they needed to cross over. However, if Broadway is closed to traffic in Times Square, it would eliminate this problem. The line was fine in Feb, but it isn't as busy.

The tickets I get ahead of time are for the top shows on my list to see when I am there. (Both Broadway and off. I always have to take in at least 2 off-Broadway shows)
