I'm sure Disney would love to have the Tonys at the New Amsterdam...if the show aired on ABC.
Is there any show that has a big set piece they'd love to feature? Wasn't that atleast part of the reason why the Minskoff got chosen in 1995, because of Sunset Boulevard's staircase?

Agh. I just got my own hopes up.
Oh well.......
HEY! MISTER SHUMACHER!! TONY'S! NEW AMSTERDAM! ALRIGHT? THANKS.
(...I think he might've heard me.)
I just hope the venue is big enough for public seats. My friend and I go every year and would be disappointed if buying a ticket becomes impossible because the venue is shorted by thousands of seats.
This is a good thing! Maybe it will actually go back to being about Broadway and take place in an actual Broadway theatre.
Even though it is no longer a legitimate Broadway house, I say the Mark Hellinger.
Have 'em in a Broadway theatre!
I just had my graduation at Avery Fisher Hall and I think it'd be awesome in there, even though it has about half the capacity as Radio City. The acoustics are pretty awesome as well, so maybe it won't suffer from sound problems so much.
I think Avery Fisher is a great option, or the New Amsterdam or the Gershwin. I'd love for them to put it back in a Broadway house though.

Is the Lincoln Center opera house too big? I know the MTV Video Music Awards use to take place there, right? It might be too big. Also, I think the Beacon would be a nice choice. It's beautiful on the inside and it is probably large enough. Plus, it did use to be used for commercial Broadway theater.
The acoustics are pretty awesome as well
Really? The acoustics in Avery Fisher are pretty famous for being awful. The acoustics in the other Lincoln Center spaces and at Carnegie are way better. I'd like to see these in a Broadway theatre too. Perhaps THE Broadway theatre?

I just think this show needs something that's use to bigger shows. Like more wing space, etc. And the Broadway - while a big house - doesn't really allow for a lot of Backstage space for the crew, casts, etc.
Really? I always thought the Broadway had a ton of wing space. Does it not?
I like the Beacon Theater idea as well as my own idea of doing something in Central Park. Make the next Tony's about NYC and Theater not about BAA touring cities and producers wanting to make more money off of their investments.
I doubt they'd want to lose all the additional revenue they make by having the event in a large venue where they can sell more tickets. I just can't see them losing all that money by going into a regular Broadway theater. Even the largest ones (like the Hilton or Gershwin) pale in comparison to the size of Radio City. I expect they'll try to find a venue of comparable size.
What location in this vicinity is comparable in size though? The Metropolitan Opera House is the next biggest thing in Manhattan that I can think of, and that's only 3800 seats to Radio City's 6000. Avery Fisher, Carnegie, City Center, and the Delacorte are all smaller (each around 2500).
Well, that's the problem, though 3800 and 2500 is still a lot better than the 1800 they could squeeze into the Gershwin or the Hilton.

Yah. I doubt the Met would ever go for it though. So 2500 is the best they are going to do I think.
and I doubt they'd want to have them outside at the Delacorte, with how unpredictable June in New York can be. Let's not have Angela Lansbury sitting outside in either 90 degree heat or a torrential downpour. And won't City Center be in Phase II of renovations next June?
If Spiderman gets nominated for Best Musical, they might NEED to do it at the Hilton. I am sure the Tonys would't pass up the opportunity to show all of the new riggings and crazy renovations they did on the theare, and I doubt they could rig up that stuff somewhere else for a Tony performance.

There is absolutely zero chance of this happening at the Met Opera.
BAM could be a good choice or this...

...it seats 3200+

That would mean everyone would need to get to Brooklyn. The casts of the performing shows wouldn't be able to go back and forth from their theatres on buses to BAM. The awards will definitely be in Manhattan.
I don't care where they hold it as long as I can reserve my tickets NOW!

They need to be back on a Broadway stage. The Broadcasts and performances have lost all intimacy while on Radio City stage. Look at the old broadcasts and the performances seem so much closer. I vote for a Bway stage.
