TORCH SONG Transferring to Broadway

No problem at all. And it's clear that you appreciate that there is no connection between the question at hand (a transfer) and what a few people here think of the production and/or its star. I call that irrelevant, but I don't really care enough to continue discussing, but have a ball.

Urie is a much bigger "star" than Uranowitz, it would not be transferring without him. I imagine it was always meant to transfer. He got raves didn't he?

I am anxious to see his HAMLET in D.C.

Did not see this production or the original but did see it inWashington DC a few years ago andcan't imagine a better Arnold than Brandon Uranowitz. He was absolutely brilliant in the role, and would guarantee hima Tonyin theBroadway production, should he ever be cast.

Is the same cast transferring -Urie, et al?

***IF*** it transfers, it would be with Urie and would not transfer without him. That some people here think it would transfer with Brandon Uranowitz reflects the level of cluelessness that is common here.

It doesn't really matter whether one personally likes Urie's performance or not. We are not at the point of debating that and it is irrelevant to this thread.

I just have 3 words in response to your post above, sir.

Urie's been on an off-Broadway roll as of late- The Government Inspector, directing Drew Droege in Bright Colors and Bold Patterns, Torch Song- on top of having been a reliably great and well-received comedic actor for years. He's not a particularly strong musical talent, which is probably why he hasn't broken through onto Broadway (other than replacing Christopher Hanke in How to Succeed).

I think he's one of the most charming actors working and would love to see him take Torch Song to Broadway.

LOVED this revival, LOVED Michael Urie--and this from an old queen old enough to have seen the three plays BEFORE they were a trilogy.

I've seen it multiple times, in the East Village, in the West Village, on Broadway and on tour--and I thought Michael Urie was wonderful. And Mercedes Ruehl--she was beyond wonderful.

Hope it transfers!

While it took me longer than it should have, after several Hogan's Heroes responses to me, I realized who he was - he's one of the main reasons I left All That Chat - where he does the exact same thing under a different but similar moniker and where many people cannot stomach him - why he needed the extra attention by coming here and doing his business is anyone's guess.

Didn't people have a problem with Urie because he wasn't the right "type" - too conventionally handsome? Which would make Brandon even more wrong for the past. Regardless of acting ability.
