with some of tose cast members, you could still have a good view from the last row.
The only downfall is that some idiots cometo the show and then get shocked at the site of gown me in a shower washing the equipment, think it is 'offensive', and end up walking out mid scene (or maybe they just like the view so much they have to go take of of business?? I dunno.

LOL...hey, whatever gets them INTO the seat to see the show. I own the script now. I love it.

Broadway Bulldog....the shower scenes in Take Me Out are not totally gratuitous. They are supposed to show how these men, who did't think twice about being naked in front of each other before, change once they find someone in their midst is homosexual. The nudity is very related to the overall theme of the show...and not just there to get a group of men naked on the stage. I don't understand why Americans are so hung up on Nudity anyway...I mean what's the big deal? I see naked men at the gym everyday so I don't understand why it's sooo shocking to people.

I think that nudity in a play is acceptable as long as there is a good reason for it. I believe it adds something to Take Me Out.

ErikJ972 I understand what you're saying about nudity, saying you're in the locker room and see naked men all the time. Right, but see the naked men in the locker room is an ok thing because that's a changing /showering room and nobody has to focus on each other. When you see take me out, you're in a theatre focusing on the story and then they are all nude and you are forced to watch them bathe themselves, which is weird to watch another man bathe themselves. I think it's one thing if they were nude on stage, but it's another that they are showering and washing themselves that makes it more uncomfortable, becasue you are so used to NOT looking when you are actually in the shower room at the gym, but here you are SUPPOSED to look...does that make sense, you feel like you're spying on someone's privacy...

o true dat, true dat. In the shower room you have the older big fat hairy men talking to each other. while cleaning their crotches, it's pretty foul, while the younger people are quiet and get to the point and leave, lol. Then the older people walk to their locker without covering themsleves, blah blah blah, talk a while fully exposed and laughing, blah blah, while the younger people strategically keep the towel wrapped around them while they slide up their boxes, and god forbid if the towel slip and somebody see them, lol, it IS rather funny.

I have to disagree with you there. The nude shower scenes are perfectly valid and I believ, very integral. I have read many interviews with professional athletes regarding whether or not they would feel comfortable with having an openly gay teammate and the ones who say they don't want a gay teammate ALWAYS mention that they wouldn't want to share a shower witha gay man and the the interviews with gay athletes who came out after leaving teh sporat are very consistent with the athlete mentioning how that is the most akward times in the locker room for them because of the nudity and their fear of getting 'excited' and being inadvertently outed to their teammates. It is a fear that exists on both sides of the fence -- for the gay players and teh homophobic ones -- and to them, is an important part of their feelings. Therfore, I think that the shower scenes in the shower and the interaction between those characters while nude is perfectly valid and needed to express why certain people in those locker room have their sentiments and opinions about gay players in professional sports.


Did that make ANY sense??
