This show is much more deserving of this recording, and here's why. Until now this show had not been preserved at ALL. It was a brand new musical which had never been done on Broadway before. Unfortunately during the bad economic times the show had to close. Due to its early closing, there was no Original Broadway Cast Recording made. So until now, it was unknown if this score would be preserved AT ALL.
I don't think any show can be more deserving because, really, that's just an opinion. Additionally, A Tale of Two Cities has a very nice demo cast recording so the whole "AT ALL" thing is kind of a joke. Granted there were changes made, but it's still preserved in some form. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's happening, but I don't agree with your arguments.

Sorry, CATS, but with all the changes, and omitted songs from the original, I have to agree with the poster...
Besides, JUST to have Barbour's voice recorded on a cast CD is worth the money and effort. Although I think Sydney in the demo CD sounded great (OK, more than great =I ), it is nothing like James' interpretation, and the people who were lucky enough to see the show, are really very happy right now
Furthermore, whatever they did for the DVD, I have no doubt the it will be an artisticly amazing piece, and I am more than glad that they did this for us, the fans :)

I just caught a bit of Shogun starring Richard Chamberlain. As much as I love Michael York Chamberlain would have made a great narrator for this.
Enough with the "concerts" already *rolls eyes*
SHOW ME THE SHOW!!! ((Said like in Jerry MaGuire...))
Hey i'll take a concert over nothing though
It sounds to me like it wasn't a concert? It sounds like they changed their minds and recorded a CD in the studio, and then filmed selections of the show and will have a narrator set up the scenes??
But if it is the concert I'd be fine with that too
Maybe they will tell us whenever they actually decide to announce the cast...
I've been wondering that as well philly03, that is what it looks like, hopefully there will be an announcement soon to clarify everything.
Great!

Philly03, That's exactly how I thought they arranged it: A cast CD, and then a DVD with key scenes set up by the narrator.
I agree.
The cast is pretty much out there, already. I think we all know by now who is involved.
Bumping this because someone recently asked me when this was due ti air. Isn't it next month? I couldn't find anything on google.
I believe it IS next month-- or was supposed to be-
In other news... James will once again be doing his holiday concerts--- this year from Dec 11th- Dec 21st @ "Bill's 90"
on 54th Street.
The concert / DVD / CD is still aimed to be out around Christmas time. They just finished doing some more mixing on the CD, but from what I have heard, they are still aiming for a just-in-time-for-Christmas release.
Still baffles me how NOTHING has been officially published of this!

Really?
"Tale of Two Cities" - the same musical that was a colossal mess.
Doesn't really baffle me.
I meant of the news...as in, it happened, its been filmed & recorded but they the producers havent even said who was definitely in it.
I was kidding.
