Who do you think will still be a musical performer of interest 10 years from now? Sutton (what will she move to?)Foster? the little Winokeur girl? Michael Ball? Stokes Mitchell?
Who were in the theatre forefront 10 years ago? Interesting how some musical performers seem to be ageless and span the decades and are still discussed...Merman, Channing, Streisand, Andrews, Raitt, Preston, Astaire, Kelly, Fosse,
Today's crop can't all become timeless...What are your predictions?

Hiya Bulldog, Remember me. I think Stokes Mitchell will still be around on this side of the pond. Michael Ball on the other side. They will both be able to move into more mature roles i.c. My Fair Lady, Sweeney Todd and more while still being able to do leading man roles. As far as womem, I am not to sure. I am trying to think of people that impress like, Neuwirth, and company even Bernie. But I am having a hard time. I'll get back to you.
I think that, unfortunately, Marissa Jaret Winokur is not going to last...I love her and all, but I can picture what is going to happen...She is going to be typecast as the overweight girl, and composers are going to write shows for her where she plays the overweight girl...I would LOOVVEEE to see her in Gypsy a couple decades! Brian Stokes Mitchell is amazing...If he dies out as a broadway actor, which i don't think will happen, he will have the best "Live at Carnegie Hall" CD...Sutton Foster has major potential in that she is a cuadruple threat!!!(she has the looks of an ideal leading lady, the moves, the voice, and the ability)...but she must take advantage of when she is the center of attention, and not stay for and extra 6 months in a show when she has god-knows how many offers thrown her way!...just my opinion...tear it apart as you wish...

I would love to see Devon May around in the next 10+ years, but he needs to get himself back in the spotlight. Where has he been since BatBoy? Loved him in that.
Also:
Brian Stokes Mitchell, Raul Esparza, Norbert Leo Butz, Melissa Errico, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Kerry Butler, Sutton Foster, Alice Ripley, Michael McElroy,
Nathan Lane will be the Mickey Rooney of our day.

In some capacity we will still be seeing:
Faith Prince
Debra Monk
Christine Baranski
Bebe Newwirth
Bernadette Peters
Sherie Rene Scott
Gary Beach
Karen Mason
Alan Cumming
Rosie O'Donnell (Maybe not starring in shows, but she'll be around)
Mary Bond Davis
Some of these people have already had a great deal of sucess, but hopefully Karen, Sherie and Mary get themselves a Tony award!
Also, he was talked about alot for a while, and the last I heard he did London's Kiss Me, Kate... Whatever happened to Michael Berresse?
Everyone Robactorguy said. Definately Sutton, Gavin and Kerry. As far as Marissa lasting...I don't know. It's intersting to think about.
I think Marissa and Kerry will be big stars.

I think to get a clear perpspective on answering the question. You have to take into consideration lots of things. Work ethic, how producers and directors feel about the person, audience appeal, what kind of range do they have, are they company leaders, do they interact well with co stars and back stage people, will they take chances. We all have our favorites but whether they can stand the test of time more than talent has to be taken into consideration and the variety of their respective abilities. Just an opinion

Audra McDonald. Awesome. She is truly gifted
I disagree with Karen Ziemba. She's just like the rest of the Chicago women. Not that none of them are great, CJR, but I think in 10 years, we won't be hearing much about her.

10 years from now? Without a doubt...
CAROL CHANNING
I also agree with Nathan Lane. The man will never, ever leave. I also think that Brian Stokes Mitchell won't be leaving Broadway for a while.

Maybe Susan Lucci--I know people who are still overwhelmed by her performance in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.

I hope Marisa what's her name isn't a one hit show wonder. Hopefully she'll have another hit in the future.
