What? No disparaging remarks yet?
I've not seen the show but I thought I'd read that a lot of work was done to the theater in order to handle the show, thought I'd read something about this show being a difficult show to tour with because of all the aerial stuff?

"thought I'd read something about this show being a difficult show to tour with because of all the aerial stuff?"
I would think that too....
Isn't it a little soon to be touring? It only opened 6 months ago or so... Do they really start touring a show that quickly?

Posted: 11/1/06 at 7:58pmI haven't seen the show yet, but have heard much about it, and now that Rotel's pointed it out, it would be very difficult to tour. With all that flying and the special effects and stunts, there'd have to be week-long, maybe longer, breaks inbetween tour stops so they can set up everything. Most likely, it would be too hard.

Posted: 11/1/06 at 8:03pmYeah, I would imagine some of it would need to be restaged. Since they didnt even do an out-of-town tryout (which I think they needed) because the effects were too specific, I think it would be difficult to tour, but I think they'll do it. They'll make their money on tour.

WICKED started touring, what, about 2 years after it opened?
It may be a little while until "Tarzan" tours...all though i hope "Wedding Singer" tours in 2007, well that's the date, in talks...

Posted: 11/1/06 at 8:41pmi was actually thinking the same thing about the theater. i am sure that if disney wants it totour, they will figure a way for it to work. although I do not remember Aida or Beauty touring.

Posted: 11/1/06 at 8:43pmBoth aida and beauty tour

Aida's touring now, correct?
And "Beauty and the Beast" has toured, right? And I know "Lion King" is touring right now, too.

Posted: 11/1/06 at 8:54pmAs already said they'd have to re-block a whole lot. Not jus the aerial stuff. They use the rising platform dohickey a lot! and I dont think most theatre's would have that.
#14re: Tarzan Tour?
Posted: 11/1/06 at 8:57pmAida toured in 2002, and Beauty and the Beast's first national tour started around 1998.

I believe they want to open foreign productions of Tarzan in other countries before they start touring the show. Besides, it's not like we need Tarzan filling up subscription slots at our local Broadway road houses.
On the side, anyone know if Disney is sending out another Beauty and the Beast tour anytime soon? I still haven't seen it.

Posted: 7/12/07 at 10:48pmI hope they make some book and staging revisions and send it out on the road. I could see it making more money as a tour then as a sit down production on Broadway.

Yeah it probably could considering other Disney tours did pretty well. I'd see it again just because I didn't hate it and I know my mom said she would definitely go.
Well wouldn't it still be easier to get Tarzan out than Mary Poppins?

Posted: 7/13/07 at 12:36amI believe I read or heard somewhere (maybe the behind-the-scenes with Gavin Lee thing) that a touring set is being made for Marry Poppins? The designer is retooling some set pieces so they'll be able to tour better.

One of the reasons TARZAN closed abrubtly is because they could not sell the tour at all.
And why LITTLE MERMAID is selling so poorly.
But you will, of course hear press to the contrary.
DISNEY MAGIC.
