Taye Diggs?

After listening to him on the Rent cast recording and on The Wild Party recording, I think he has a nice voice but his acting is very...wodden sounding I guess. I don't know how to really describe it. What do you thing? Taye Diggs, yes or no?

Taye Diggs as Black in Lippa's WILD PARTY could not possibly be worse than Yancy Arias as Black in LaChiusa's WILD PARTY.

I have to say...when I saw Rent way back when it opened, Taye was the least memorable. I don't know if it was Taye or the character...but there was nothing impressive...
However...on the screen, I find Taye to be a wonderful actor.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I think that Taye should just stick to acting...his musical career doesn't seem like it's been doing so well...

I liked Diggs in Wild Party, but the role seems to have been tailored to his particular strengths and weaknesses.

I've never seen him perform live. And the movies I have seen him in were okay. But I really enjoyed him in his television show Kevin Hill. He has a very natural, real quality. It's a shame that show got cancelled. There's so much junk on television and that was a decent show. Though I didn't like the legal parts of the show...the cases were totally unbelievable and they always won. But showing him learning how to be a father...those parts were really funny and sweet.

He had a two episode stint on The West Wing. Small part, but good use of facial expressions.

I saw him in Wicked and he was fine in a rather undemanding role. I don't find him a particularly great musical performer. He is a better actor than singer and most definitely a better nude model (I wish) than either of those.
The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

I think Taye is adorable and has a great voice. Both Fiyero and Benny are pretty thankless roles.

I don't know him very well as a musical theatre person, but I definitely like his show Kevin Hill. I like the way he acts. I must say though, from what I've seen of Taye playing Fiyero, I defintely don't think that was within his good vocal range.

A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it, but all she really dreams is to make someone else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer. And that is so beautiful-Anonymous

Fortunately, I caught his performance in Lippa's WILD PARTY.
He was mesmerizing with a silky vocal instrument. He and Julia Murney were certainly impressive.

He never seems to have a very good role. Fiyero is just plain horrible, and Benny is never memorable....but I think he was absolutely perfect as Benny. I think he was wonderful on Kevin Hill as well. I really wish he'd been cast in the Dreamgirls movie...I think he could've been great in that.

Did anyone see him as Billy Flynn? I think he could've been good in that role.

I do think he's a fine actor...I'd like to see more of him in the future. And not just because he's ridiculously gorgeous. :)

I reaaaaaaaally wanted to see him in Chicago.

He's doing A Soldier's Play this fall - I've read the play, and it's pretty heavy stuff. So, he must be at least a halfway decent actor, yeah? re: Taye Diggs?

Yeah Taye is good throughout the Chicago movie. But I bet his Billy on Broadway was quite good. He would've definetly made a young Billy - but I'm sure it was interesting.
