Did a search and nothing came up...
On www.tmz.com, there is a video of Taye Diggs calling a fan a 'parasite' because the fan was getting an autograph for free. In Taye's words, he was "getting something for nothing."
It's an interesting video, so check it out. It's kind of changed my perspective on Mr. Diggs.
Taye Calls Fan a 'Parasite'
The guy was being a d*ck, and I think that Taye handled it the best that he could.
Edit: I think the guy was gonna sell it on ebay or something, and that's why Taye was pissed.

The guy had already collected two autographs, right?
Taye had already signed two things for the dude, and then refused to sign the third. Where is someone with three Taye Diggs' autographs going besides to eBay? Sounds like getting something for nothing to me.
I'm with the Taye defenders on this one. I've seen a few actors have to put their foot down and say no to autograph seekers who are obviously just going to re-sell them. When I saw The Wild Party on Broadway there was a man with a stack of "Sixth Sense" production stills waiting for Toni Collette. She signed the top picture, said she only signs one item per person, and moved on down the line before he could respond. Thankfully he just walked away.

Taye didn't seem that bad at all. He was polite about it.
I am on Taye's side. As a person who enjoys meeting celebrities and obtaining autographs, it is getting harder and harder because the celbrities are sick of seeing their autographs sold on E-Bay. I know everyone has to make a buck doing something, but I have seen it get out of hand. If you are a fan and want an autograph, that is one thing. If you are someone who is going with stacks of photos, or is selling them, that isn't right. Why should the actor waste their time. I am never offended when an actor asks to personalize something. That shows the actor you are keeping the signed item for yourself.

the "something for nothing" he was referring to, I believe, was how the man most likely was going to turn around and sell it on ebay. I think the guy was being a jerk... Taye had already signed 2 things for him... seriously? i applaud Taye for standing up to him. i don't think he was being a jerk at all!
After Taye said no to the 3rd item, the guy should have thanked him and left. Why get into an argument? And if you watch the video, who is the woman at the very begining telling Taye to "just sign them"?
I agree with Taye on this one. Al;so agree on the one item per person.
Maybe even better if they don't sign UNLESS it's personalized to avoid the Ebay resellers....

If it's crowded it could take the actor a long time to personalize everyone's item. However if the crowd is a manageable size it's not a bad idea. I usually don't get things personalized unless the actor offers though, because people always misspell my name. It's Ava, pronounced 'ay-vah', but people always think it's Spanish & start writing Eva before I can correct them.
i wouldnt say 3 GUARANTEES its for ebay.
I mean when i got something signed by idina i had 2 items signed, one for me one for my sister.
I will say they sign sooo many they can probably tell fairly fast the guys who are selling them and hte guys who just want them for themselves or friends.
In general i only do one just to be respectful.

Oh, the actors know who the creepy people are. They can always tell.
That's probably true.
they likely see them multiple times, and thye always have many items to sign....
One per customer then, this way they can satisfy more customers....
I'm available for signing, but just one per person please!!!
He handled himself VERY well!
and I hate this, too. When I went to the OBC of Spamalot! stage door there were TONS of people who were so obviously getting multiple autographs to sell on ebay. And even though the cast was having trouble getting around to all the people there they still stopped to sign like 4 "monty python" dolls and stuff for people. I was not happy, and I'm sure they weren't either.
This is why I don't ask for autographs, unless the actor suggests it.
I normally just ask to have my picture taken with them as that means more to me than anything else, and then I can put it in my scrapbook.

I completely agree, Taye said all the right things in the right way to that guy. I definitely wouldn't want to sign multiple autographs for someone who would just sell them for personal profit.

True, true, maybe he wasn't eBaying- he could have been trying to get Taye to sign something for himself, and then his mom, his grandma, his other grandma, etc... I would venture to guess though, that if Idina had said no to signing a third something for you, you wouldn't have been all arguing with her about it. That's why my vote went right to this guy being an eBayer.

I agree. He already signed two of the damn things. This guy should have been grateful. Head on home to Idina, Taye. That's all I can say.
That guy was seems like such a pessimistic jerk; I'm proud Taye didn't blow up in his face. He politely stated how he felt and left it at that. Kudos to Mr. Diggs~
He also ended it with a Happy Holidays where alot of people would have gone with a more agressive goodbye.

Taye handled it well. You know usually stars would just walk away with a sour face and sign nothing but he was nice enough to sign two and then explain to the guy why he wouldn't sign the third. He was actually nice about it.
Hmmmm I really cant judge without knowing everything. Also I find it funny sara remerizes (sp) did the comercial before the video played.
I have asked for more than one autograph, but I think it's clear it's because one is for a relative or because I have a Playbill from some other show I saw them in or something like that. The guy said they're for "the fans." If the third one was really for a specific person, I think the guy would have had a completely different approach and line of argument than the one he took. I think Taye did the best he could.
It's interesting that most of the comments on the site with the video are anti-Taye, while most of the comments here, where there are true fans who get autographs for their personal enjoyment, are positive and sympathetic to Taye.
I also think the beginning of the video is great, where some woman is saying, "Just give it to him," and then Taye says he already gave him two, then the woman stops talking, and Taye is like, "Exactly."
Who would bid on that?!
