Oh, the actors know who the creepy people are. They can always tell.
Totally. If you walk by a theatre where a "big name" star is playing, you can sometimes see the professional ebay autograph seekers lurking by the stage door well before the show is over, clutching stacks of photos. The actors and security know what's up. I remember hearing that at the show Julia Roberts did, the security checked for current tickets before they'd even let people wait on line at the stage door.
I thought Taye handled that situation remarkably well. Parasite seems like the right word for the "fan" in that video. It's a shame people like that ruin it for the fans that really will take that one autograph from the stage door home and treasure it forever.

I agree that you can tell who the professional autograph seekers are. People like Taye aren't idiots. It is easy to tell and I am glad Taye said what he did to the guy. They are always at stage doors but I think my personal favorite is the team that busts the microphones out of the box and has people like Idina sign them. Ok. A cheap microphone that has no significance to the actor whatsoever? Like others have said. People will bid on anything. Even stupid stuff.

Yeah, good for Taye, he handled it very well (where some celebrities might have sworn or flicked someone off).
Our culture has become so obsessed and inconsiderate of celebrities as human beings.
"It was for the fans," sure it was, and to get it to the fans you get to make some money along the way. Ridiculous.
From the screenplay of ALL ABOUT EVE by Joseph L. Mankiewicz:
Bette Davis as Margo Channing: Autograph fiends! They're not people--those little beasts who run in packs like coyotes--
Celeste Holm as Karen Richards: They're your fans, your audience--
Bette Davis as Margo Channing: They're nobody's fans! They're juvenile delinquents, mental detectives, they're nobody's audience, they never see a play or a movie, even--they're never indoors long enough!

Taye did nothing wrong.
Some of these autographer seekers are wackos. Was at the GREY GARDENS stage door with a man who had each actor sign two different things: a little note card and the playbill, but each had to be in different pens, and then he'd whip out a third thing. You could tell the actors were getting annoyed. They DO want to get home.
