All the Rentheads.
I like how Sara Ramirez does the commercial beforehand.
I'm with Taye. He handled it well.
I think there could of been more of a graceful approach to it. Calling the guy a parasite was unneccesary.
Hey brandon!
The guy basically says it's to sell on eBay. That is why he says to consider it like a charity donation for his benefit. Taye was actually really nice to the guy.
The guy was being obnoxious. If it was REALLY for someone else he knew, he would have told him names or something. Add me to the list of people who think Taye handled himself well. This guy was obviously going to ebay with it.
Oh geez I would have called him more than a parasite.
If an actor says no, he/she says no. If you don't like it, then get over it. It's not like he didn't get any autograph at all. I learned this the hard way when I was 10 years old...insisting actually DOESN't help your situation.
lol, So what happened when you were 10 years old?
I had a very unhealthy obsession with Audrey Hepburn, and I saw this show, i dont even remember what it was, but a woman who looked exactly like Hepburn played the part of Hepburn in one of the stories and I was like "WOW AUDREY HEPBURN!!!!" So my friend's uncle was the director of the show, brought us backstage to wait for him and the woman passed by and I asked her if she was really Audrey Hepburn (yup. at 10 years old I was so immature I didnt realize she would never ever ever be the real Audrey Hepburn because of ummm I dunno a little time period called the 50s/60s.) So it got me upset and I kept insisting and in the end I got in trouble because I annoyed her so much. My parents were called and my Samantha Parkington doll was taken away from me for a whole two weeks.
That was my lesson. When actor says "Darling, Im not really Audrey Hepburn. I'm an actress. I will NOT sign your picture as Audrey Hepburn." ..it means no.
Yup.
Was the actress Donna Murphy?
I get them confused so often too.
Taye handled himself incredibly well. Kudos to him. Even when the guy followed him out to his car he didn't blow in his face.
What a dick!
I'm assuming you mean the "parasite"?
I dont blame him, those RENTheads can get on your nerves.
Pick, Sally.
I pick the parasite!
I love to collect playbills and I love to get them signed. So, when I go to shows I always pick up an extra one. That way, I can get one signed and have an unsigned one to add to my collection. When I stagedoor, I put the one I want signed on top of the one I don't want signed. There have been plenty of times where an actor would sign one and then start to go for the other one right away. Or, they would ask me if I wanted the other one signed.
Also, I have seen a particular broadway show a few times. The cast is friendly and knows who I am. And I always stagedoor. And, there was a running gag between me and one of the actors who knew who I was that had gotten thier autograph so many times I am prolly selling them on ebay. We joked about this all the time. But, the person who said that the actors can tell who are the people they have to watch out for is correct. Clearly, they were able to tell that I was harmless in terms of putting there autograph on ebay. Otherwise they wouldn't joke round bout it. Also, they knew I didn't have a credit card cus I am under 18. But yea.
That guy wasn't a Renthead. That guy was an asshole that saw an oppertunity to make a dollar off a signature on ebay. I bet he does that to anyone famous he meets.
Parasite was mellow compared to some lash outs I've seen from other actors. You can't be sugar to everyone all the time. Had that been the exchange for one autograph, okay, then I'd concider Taye on the not so nice side..but three is a bit much.
If you need more then one signature, you should ask before you get the first one, and if they say no, be gracious about it..dont make them feel guilty.
As everybody said, Taye handled it quite well while some people, after spending that long with a not-so-fanny-fan would just explode, and he was kind of smiling a bit and trying to explain, not just stomping off and bluntly refusing. Yeah, I think it's a good idea for actors to personalize their signatures just so nothing weird pops up on ebay, and three unspecific signatures are definately enough...

Taye handled it very well. I don't think the fact that he called him a parasite was wrong at all.
The parasite is lucky Idina wasn't with Taye. She woulda kicked the guy straight in the balls with her high heels while Taye ran for cover.
I always get very upset when I see a signed poster/playbill on eBay for a ridiculous amount like over $100 (no charity auction). I'd rather pay the same amount for a poster during BC/EFA donation period. I feel bad for those actors who autographed the poster/playbill without thinking that it'd be sold.
But I do ask for an autograph for a certain actor multiple times (every time I see his performance), which is usually personalized with a special message, so of course I won't even dare to think about selling them.

I hate when people feel like actors "owe" them an autograph... it happens everywhere to everyone. They don't owe you anything and people should be happy they even got one autograph, or in this case, two.
that guy was a bit of an arse ... it even looks like he stalked him a bit to get the pics. Doesnt look like it was a public event with a bunch of other people there.
and lite2shine i am with ya ... the only time i have bought an autograph is when it was for broadway cares and i was at the theatre. Other than that its just not personal.
I think two is more than enough. If the guy wanted it personalized then you would have less of a thought of them selling it on ebay. That guy just needs to get over it. Two is more than generous.
