"Ballsy to give it to a woman who failed at her job and was fired."
Or a man? Men fail at things all the time.
If failure is impossible, do you suppose success is also impossible?
Is everything impossible? I certainly can be.

I know... I did it on purpose. The MORE part refers the all the excess she demanded for her most recent theatrical foray. from RC in Austin, Texas

"anyone who gets anything done in this world forgets about failure ... and sticks to their heart and vision."
Wait... is she for real? How can you forget about $65M down the tubes?

Whatever she may or may not have "demanded" has nothing to do with the money raised and spent by the producers. If she's to be referred to as "TayMORE", it's a reflection of what the producers gave her, not her "demands". I'd be curious as to what specifically came as a surprise to the producers with regards to the artistic vision and how it related to the budget and execution. If it wasn't in the budget, then they had to raise more money. I've a feeling the producers salivated at the thought of putting up Broadway most expensive musical because they snagged Taymor and Bono, not because they had a gun to their heads.

Pocket change compared to Lion King profits. Almost 15 years later, still one of the highest grossing shows in Broadway history (beating out Wicked as the highest grossing show with $1.9 M the week of Easter) and in the West End and no sign of slowing down. Not to mention the countless tours and international productions. I doubt there has been a production of Lion King that has failed to make a profit.

It is true $65m is indeed chump change compared to the profits that could have been made if this were the next Lion King. The only problem is, it isn't. 65m is a lot of wishful thoughts. None of this changes the fact that this time she did fail, and failed big. Failure was indeed quite possible.
Perhaps investors needed to look at what other Julie Taymor projects were able to turn a profit when Disney's name was not also attached.
