I was reading the libretto of No, No, Nanette for a class, and found the lyrics of Tea for Two strikingly similar to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Any thoughts?

Never thought about it directly but i can definitely see it. I wonder if it was an intentional direct takeoff or just a takeoff on that type of song.

"Tea for Two" reminds me of "Too Many Tomorrow's" from Sweet Charity and much more similar in lyrics with "Room in Bloomsbury" from the Boy Friend.

"Room In Bloomsbury" is actually a direct parody of "Tea For Two" as well as the song "The Blue Room" by Rodgers & Hart.
