Is there any advantage, such as better seats, when buying tickets online or by phone?
Not really. The only real advantage could be if there are specific seats you want, it's SLIGHTLY easier for the agent to look up when they might be available than when you do it. But for the most part...they are looking at pretty much the same thing you are.
I don't think there's a huge difference. At telecharge.com you can look for other seats if the first ones they offer aren't to your liking.
I know at ticketmaster if you're an Audience Rewards member you can't get points if you call. I don't know if it's the same for telecharge.
Are there still the extra charges when you do it over the phone?
Yes. I had bought some tickets online and discovered I needed to switch them to a different day. So I called up and got seats in the same row just for a different day. The price was exactly the same.

So they let you change dates, would they let you change shows?
Their policy is "no refunds/no exchanges" but when I explained the issue that came up I was told I could have a "one time exchange" since the tickets I wanted were for the same show at the same price.
I'm not sure how they would handle someone wanting to switch shows unless it was something like the show closed and you're only in town for one day. I think it all depends on what rep you get. The person I got was exceptionally nice and we actually chatted for a bit.
Ok so I think I might call tomorrow and see if they will let me switch. I have August: Osage County tickets I've heard it isn't as good as it used to be right now. Should I see if they will let me switch my tickets to Next to Normal or Hair?
Hmm...I don't know if they'd allow it but you could certainly try.
I would be shocked if they would let you switch shows.
I just saw August again a few weeks ago: it's still amazing. Go, it's worth it.
dramamama611 thats good to hear. I could have sworn I heard it wasn't doing very well. thanks for clearing things up.
Well, August isn't doing that well financially right now but that doesn't mean the show itself isn't doing well. It's still an amazing play with amazing performances.

There's definitely no advantage, at least not in my experience. I think there might be more flexibility online actually, with the 'I don't want this seat' button. When I ordered on the phone to see if I could get a better ticket than what was coming up online, I started to say "Are there any oth" and was cut off by a "No. There aren't."
Ok so I just got off the phone with a rep and they WILL let me exchange my tickets as a one time only thing!!! All I have to do now I shop them to telecharge over night and they will credit me! YAY! Now I get to see Next to Normal!
