Tell us what you felt was good and beautiful about PQ...no ugliness please

With so many negative opinions and comments being said...let's hear some good aspects to the Pirate Queen and its story. We know the cast is GREAT, but what else would you reccommend others focus on?

Let's have a dialogue that will tell others why this show is different from the many being brought to the public today.

re: Tell us what you felt was good and beutiful about the PQ...keep uglyiness out, please

Thank You Fachadaluna for a POSITIVE thread!

Well, personally, I think that the best edition they have made to the show is the new song Woman! It is beautiful and really helps the audience understand Grace's passion for the sea that much more. In the second act it is reprised as a lullaby and is just as beautiful a moment...but is a polar opposite to what she was trying to convey in the beginning of the show. In the beginning she was expressing that being a woman is worse than a jail sentence while in the second act she expresses how wonderful it is to be a woman because she has a child and "not until it happens can your heart know."

I'd love it if "beutiful" was spelled correctly in the thread title...

b e a u t i f u l l y :)

I have yet to see PQ but am excited to!
"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." The Nanny Diaries

Evleen, every note she sings, every moment she's onstage. They've fleshed out her character a lot, and it's a great improvement.

The Eullean pipe solo before Dubdhara's death.

The flute solo before Tiernan is released.

The harp intro to "If I Said I Loved You".

Even if the Tonys snub everything else about this show, Julian Kelly deserves the Best Orchestration trophy. I have never heard such a beautiful sound coming from a Broadway pit.

Hadley Fraser singing "I'll Be There"

The lighting during "Here on This Night"

The chemistry between Stephanie and Hadley

Watching William Youmans *act* as Hadley sang, "Surrender"

Áine Uí Cheallaigh's Irish singing at the opening of The Christening

The way Jeff McCarthy sang everything even if I can't remember what he sang... and his flowing mane.

When the giant cukoo stick his head out of the window at the top of the proscenium to start Act II.

OK, I made that last part up but it could have happened!

Shakespear

Thanks for participating. I realize you were disappointed in the show...but I knew you (as well as many other) are/were able to find some good comments to share.

I truly appreciate your input. re: Tell us what you felt was good and beautiful in the PQ, no ugliness PLE

Fach,

Come on, lighten up a little. re: Tell us what you felt was good and beutiful about the PQ...keep uglyine We're not all haters!
I can't say anything nice b/c I haven't seen the show, but I really hope it does well as I adore Schonberg's scores. And I always shows to do well. I know how hard the cast and crew work.

Also,
I hope it does well so there will be a resurgence of sung-thru musicals.
....but the world goes 'round

Is this a new thing, creating a thread where only positive comments are allowed? Personally, I like a good debate, and try not to feel too offended when someone disagrees with me (I don't always succeed at that, though...)

I'll Be There

The song where the second clan, who looks exactly like the first clan which totally threw me off the first time I saw it, marches off in the snow. But the black pirate clan guy with the dreads needs to watch his mannerisms. The first time I saw the show in Chicago, he was tapping his foot and bobbing his head along like he was attending an Earth Wind and Fire concert, which stole focus and didn't exactly fit the scene.
