I know the theatres are air conditioned, but are the theatres still warm during this crazy heat wave? Lots of people wearing shorts? Are are the theatre pumping the A/C like crazy to help everyone beat the heat?
I was at Next to Normal last night and it wasn't any cooler than usual.

Most of these theatres are upwards of 100 years old, so the a/c can be kind of spotty. Plan on layers - if it's frigid you'll be fine & if it's warm you can peel. Please do not wear shorts. You're better than that!
I would NEVER wear shorts - just wanted a sense of what people were up to during the heat wave. Bringing friends to their first B'Way shows next week and don't want them to be too uncomfortable.

Good to hear! Bway houses are usually hot in the winter & cold in the summer, but that's with ordinary weather. This week , of course, has been brutal & next week will only be a touch better. Wear light clothes & bring a light sweater & you & your friends should be very comfortable. Have a great time!

I know certain shows like ::whispers:: "Wicked" which use a lot of fog/smoke/haze need the temp of the theatre to be within a few degrees day to day. One can only assume this holds true during a heat wave such as now.
Sitting in the Gershwin on Tuesday night (when it went up to over 100), it got so cold in there that my friend and I were excited to get back outside into the heat.

What the hell is wrong with shorts. Some people really have nothing better to do than judge others for wearing shorts to the theater?
There are many people on these boards that care what people wear to the theater. It seems like shorts and jeans are abombinations. There have been many a thread about it.
Personally, I wouldn't do it, but I don't really care what anyone else wears as long as thier bits are in my line of vision or touching me.
I wear shorts in the summer, I don't really like doing it but I can't take the heat during my commute to and from the theatres. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
