This isn't quite as bad as Lucy Lawless' complaints when she was cast as Rizzo in the last GREASE revival. Some magazine (I forget which one, probably "Entertainment Weekly") sat in on her backstage process one night and interviewed her; low points included her whining, "It's like GROUNDHOG DAY--I have to do the same script all over again?" and bemoaning the fact that she wasn't doing Ibsen, but she was sure that was somehow on the horizon (Lawless as Hedda Gabler, anyone?) Stupid sheltered movie and TV stars.
If the Golden Girls were still running today, I have no doubt that the Lucy Lawless "Hedda Gabler" would be running in that Miami dinner theatre the girls were always frequenting.

So the Terrence Howard show continues. I think all of this is publicity for his debut CD.
But anyway, it's telling that instead of admitting to the fact that he dropped the ball when it came to portraying Brick, he chooses to disparage the actors that have played the role before him. I think he is using arrogance to hide his guilt.
The bottom line is...Terrence had the opportunity to breathe a new and different life into a classic character in American literature and he failed to do that. And being overlooked by the Tonys and the overwhelming lukewarm reviews by critics has been hard for someone of his narcisstic nature to swallow.
I guess he expended too much energy griping and whining about the performance schedule and speaking out against modern day "slavery" to focus and give his all to developing the character.

I. Hate. Terrance. Howard.
Plain and simple. His comments are absolutely infuriating. And he's basically teaching his daughter how to be more like him. If that's the case, then I pity that kid. Does anyone know if he's still on speaking terms with anyone in the cast?
