No disrespect, but GOOD RIDDANCE! This show had some of the worst music. I can't believe my friend actually wanted to go see this. There are better family friendly musicals that have songs that adults and kids would like. Examples are "Beauty & the Beast," "Mary Poppins," "The Lion King," and "Shrek."

Riddance. Good Riddance.
My heart breaks that this piece of crap and poor excuse of a show will see its demise.
It wasn't THAT bad, and Sara Gettelfinger blew the roof off PPAC last night. If only she was in it more...

Just judging from the press reels...it hardly looked like a masterpiece. But I'm sorry for those kids in the show.
This really was a terrible, terrible show. BT McNicholl should be banned from theatre for the awful book and lyrics he wrote. Whoever thought that stilts would be a fun idea should go into exile. Dennis DeYoung is rich enough to retire, why doesn't he?
Maybe a bit of hyperbole there, but the show had almost nothing redeeming to offer for either kids or adults. Some of the actors worked hard (but some seemed pretty lazy, too). The live dogs were the best part.
Oh yes, the stilts/platform shoes were so awkward, terrible idea.
I recently accompanied my husband to a Dennis DeYoung concert. As bizarre as I found him to be, that man has FANS!
Does anyone know where the stage door is for the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden? Sara Gettelfinger is very talented and I would love to be able to meet her.

It's too bad this is closing. I saw the show early in the tour and thought it had some great potential. The problem it had going for it was that it was being billed as a "Family Show" (a la Lion King) and trying to entertain adults and kids alike. From the start, it should have been more targeted as a "Kids Show".
Yes, thank god another show is closing and more actors/creatives will be out of work.
You guys see everything so one-dimensional. Just because a show is bad doesn't mean it should close. Let the bad show run its course, and if you don't want to see it then don't go see it. At least it's keeping people employed.
^ I never understand this attitude.
Would you similarly want terrible restaurants to remain open just so the waiters don't get fired? Or stores with poor customer service, so that the stock people have jobs?
I personally would wish for the actors to get out of a crappy show so they can fulfill their potential in a good one.
Perhaps you see things one dimensionally as well?
P.S. I have many friends who are working actors, and I've never known one of them to pray for a stinker they're in to keep running.
Well I think it's a TERRIBLE thing that it's closing.
Think of the producers who won't make back their money.
They will probably now have to cut their maid service back to 5 days instead of 7.
Where is the compassion. So what is the show sucks and is an affront to theater lovers everywhere. Isn't it our responsibility to help support the people with money who invest in these shows?

It was clear that it was destined to be a mess after its concert at Broadway in Chicago.
"The problem it had going for it was that it was being billed as a 'Family Show' (a la Lion King) and trying to entertain adults and kids alike. From the start, it should have been more targeted as a 'Kids Show'."
Exactly. It seemed like a "Dora the Explorer Live" or "Blues Clues Live."
They must have known a while ago. It was part of our season, was dropped about a month or so ago and replaced with 2 shows (Blue Man Group and Cirque Dreams Illumination). It was due here at the end of the summer.
It wasn't that much of an embarrassment and I enjoyed the evening more than The Addams Family musical. At least I could tell what I was supposed to care about with 101 Dalmatians.
But, yeah, a stinker not ready for Broadway.
Woof Woof
For whoever asked, the Stage door for the WaMu theatre is at the corner of 8th and 33rd, though there are a million ways into that place.

Have you ever heard or seen "the IT Girl" Very Very cute and charming.. BT McNicholl wrote that and it is very Good.
Banned from the theatre?? That is harsh.
It takes an entire team to put up a show.. the blame isn't any one person's fault any more than a success is.
I am really concerned for all those dogs put out of work. Whatever will they do.

Not so fast... Did you see the reviews from Miami, Dallas, and Detroit? All enthusiastic. And this week in Providence? Take a look. Plus standing ovations at virtually every performance, I hear. In this week's PROVIDENCE PHOENIX:
"The 101 Dalmatians Musical, at Providence Performing Arts Center through March 21, is everything you could expect from the family-friendly story: adorable, adventurous, funny, and hummable in the shower to boot."
And the headline in this week's PROVIDENCE JOURNAL: "Dalmatians HITS THE SPOT"
And, further, the TICKETMASTER reviews -- these are posts from people who actually PAID to see the show and wrote in afterwards -- give it 3 stars out of 4.
SO... apparently, they delivered a certainly more-than-decent family show in the end. So be careful when you make these wide-swath statements -- they may not be entirely true.
"Plus standing ovations at virtually every performance, I hear."
Just curious: heard from whom?
I assume you're not connected with the show, or you would have mentioned that fact. So do you have friends and relatives in those cities who told you about the standing O's?
"No disrespect,"
You say no disrespect, and then you go on to completely disrespect it!
