There was NEVER to be a huge enormous big fat DVD with a crap load of Special Features released for Christmas 2007. All that was slated to be released in Christmas 2007 was an Extended Version DVD, which was simply a longer cut of the film which would be including all those deleted scenes edited back into the film. These deleted scenes can be found on the regular DVD release of the film on the Special Features section.
Unfortunately, this Extended Version DVD is now expected to be released sometime in Spring 2008. Per Bill Condon's rep, don't expect an audio commentary on this new version. He feels that everything and anything he has said can be seen and heard on the numerous documentaries and featurettes on the 2-disc Showstopper Edition of DREAMGIRLS. He says that there isn't anything new he can add that he has said before over and over (and over) again.
As for any new Special Features on this new release -- seems unlikely. It looks like all that it will be is just the Extended Version DVD and that's it.
