'American Idiot' needs all the Tonys and any others it can get- it is dying a death at the box office. I've resisted all comps put my way this last week.

I was surprised Nathan didn't get nominated, he deserved a nomination for The Addams Family which is the best new musical on Broadway, what a insult for Broadway royalty.

Great La Cage got 11 deserved nominations, with the great press this show had and sure fire winner for some Tony's I hope this will be a big boost for its box office.

They reported Box Office for AI went up after the reviews came out.

Phantom im shocked Nathan did not get a nomination, i predicted in my What's on Stage column he would....maybe they are teaching Addams a lesson

And it has gone down ever since! Believe me!

'The Addams Family' will be a bigger bomb than 'Young Frankenstein' and wont last as long.
Im seeing it tonight, oh I wish I could drum up even a little excitement!

Like politics for the general election where all parties by law must be treated equally, I think this should be enforced for all 3 Tony threads, so if you add to one you have to add to the other 2.

That should be enough to scupper Mama's thread, just have to go and sabotage SADM2 thread now.

lolol, i dont care, i have my What's on Stage column, you cant destroy that haha.

Whats intresting with grosses for last week is that most shows were very down (the bomb scare could have a lot to do with this), AI was down around 18 percent falling in to the 60 percent area. However their gross barely dipped, they were still well over 700 grand.

The bomb wouldn't have affected the published grosses. There were few cancellations and no refunds offered.
I think it was just 'The Lion King' that cancelled and all other shows went up between 20 and 40 mins late.

It would have affected anyone buying on the day tickets from TKTS and also Sunday if people decided not to travel in to the city (as many did)

I do think it was just a bad week in NY though, por Hair cant hang on much longer with those Grosses

You wouldn't have thought here had been any trouble in Times Square on the Sunday it was as busy as ever, so people were still out and about and no doubt taking in shows as they may have planned.

Phantom I had a similar thought!

Also surprised at Lane, would have thought he would get a nom even if the show is as dire as some say.

Interested to see how well AI does, I liked the CD on first listen but got bored, so wouldn't rush to see the show.

'Everyday Rapture' should be in there with Best Musical.
Its a great evening that certainly deserved a nod.
I loved it.



I've seen 3 of the Best Actress In A Musical nominees now and it really is between CZJ and Sherie

I could see 'Everyday Rapture' as one of those cabaret seasons they have at the Menier in the summer like Maria Friedman etc have done.

I see Addams staggering along much in the same way as Little Mermaid- surviving on the family audience for a while longer tha YF.

I still think Young Frankenstein could do decent business in London- so long as Lee Evans played the title role.
