Well, after A LOT of trouble this evening to get a ticket I finally got one for $60. I rarely spend that much money on one show but I was so eager to see what all the fuss was about.
I'm another one who is more on the positive side. There were some great scenes and songs and a brilliant cast all around. There is no weak link, just weak material. The music either soars or falls flat and every song ended inthe same exact way every time. The choreography is scattered throughout the show in weird places. There are also strange numbers in the show, and not Addams Family strange, just weird strange.
This show has SOOOOOO much potential and it kills me that this isn't a fantastic show. The cast is brilliant but there seems to be something wrong with every creative aspect of the show. I would like to know how it has impoved since it's Chicago run and Im hoping that it has changed for the better and will keep improving.
If this show were to have a mediocre cast it would not be half as good.

Drunk, can I ask what your $60 ticket was and where it was located? I'm assuming it wasn't rush. Was it one of the rear mezz tickets?

(I'm assuming it's a rear mezz seat, but those must be really far in that theater...)
I normally don't buy tickets from people on the street but a guy was selling them, he seemed like he wasn't a sleazy guy trying to rip me off. I got a rear orchestra seat (row BB) which was the second to last row) and for the second act I moved back a row to the aisle because I had to escape before the curtain call the catch a bus. But when I moved I had a MUCH better view because I didn't have the tallest person in front of me like my original seat.

Were you late for rush or was it sold out?
Broadway.com has censored Jackie's video blog!!!
The section where she makes fun of the stagehands and automated set people has been cut!!!
I wonder if some grumpy stagehands complained.
^^ I just noticed that a few hours ago, its a shame

My bus was suppose to get in around 5:45 so I was already cutting it close but I didn't get in until after 6:20. They were sold out of rush by then.

...so they have their merchandise section up now...
I've gotta say, I'm incredibly impressed with it. So much wonderful stuff, and I want to get nearly everything! Haven't enjoyed the merchandise this much since Hair!

The most important thing about a Broadway show is the quality of merchandise they sell in the lobby.

I wasn't saying that, Dolly! I was just saying that buying something at the merch booth lets me bring home a piece of the show! That's all! (Plus, it's contributing to a show's journey towards recoupment.)
"This still sounds to me as another failed exploitation of an old franchise. Oh well..."
No, that would be the current Phantom sequel.

I didn't see it before it was modified and cannot comment on the specifics of what she said.
However...
I have found that starting off a (hopefully) long term working relationship with a group of people by publicly insulting them usually doesn't work out so well.
Perhaps Ms. Hoffman decided that she should rethink how her coworkers are presented to the public.
There may also be the factor that I doubt the stagehand(s) in question signed a release for Broadway.com to show video of them.

Something tells me Jackie Hoffman doesn't give a damn who the hell she might offend. I highly doubt the decision to remove the (very funny) bit was hers.

You're probably right. My guess is that Broadway.com pulled it because the stagehands had not signed a release.
My point wasn't so much that Ms. Hoffman would care who she offended, just how rude is it to start off a working relationship by insulting your co-workers?
Would she have done this with the chorus kids or the orchestra? Perhaps - I know very little about her and cannot judge whether or not she's willing to show respect to the others in the company.
I think the stagehands understand Jackie's sense of humor and weren't really offended. The minute you meet her you know not to take her seriously.

Are windowcards on sale at the theatre?
proptart, here's how the cut sequence went:
During her backstage tour, Jackie went down to the basement to visit the automation guys who are sitting at computers (so, to the viewing audience, essentially doing nothing). She then said something along the lines of "These are the guys who shut down Broadway 2 years ago. Now they're back and doing what they do best: sitting and making a lot of money."
I thought it was funny. Yes, I know - their job is to make sure everything is in working order and no one gets killed by a piece of scenery and they can't very well be paying attention to their computers AND doing something else at the same time. It's an important job and absolutely neccesary.
But they do make a decent amount of money . . . and they just have to sit there.
And yes, Jackie Hoffman would absolutely say something similar to/about the chorus kids, the orchestra and everyone else (including herself). She's extremely offensive. And very funny.
But, if my memory is correct, she also said that they are important because they make sure everything runs smoothly and they make sure 1000 lb. set pieces do not fall from the flies.

Is this show still running 2:35 hours:minutes or did they cut it some? Going next week and need to choose which transportation to get home. Thanks!
anyone been to the stagedoor recently? i'm going on wednesday night and hope to meet terrance mann and tell him, in person, how much i enjoy and appreciate his work.
I haven't seen the show or gone to the stagedoor, but I walked by as it was getting out tonight. I noticed a huge crowd that spilled into the street at the stagedoor AND there were still lots of people coming out of the theater. Looks like this might be an interesting stagedoor to go to...maybe Bebe and Nathan come out early and then the crowd thins out. No offense to the other cast members, but I assume these two are the big draw? Yes? No?
sorry I can't share anything other than "there was a really big crowd there tonight." haha

In context, I don't think what she said was ALL that offensive, and the people she was saying it to didn't seem very offended...
