"The Addams Family" surprised me last night!

Hi gang, Hope every ones summer is going well! I wanted to share my thoughts and my surprise at "The Addams Family" last night.

Having seen the show with the original cast many times and just loved the show in that form, I was very disappointed with Roger and the new cast a week after they started. Last night I went back to see Brooke and all can say is "WOW".

First off, Roger is now doing his own thing and not trying to imitate Nathan. He is funny, touching and his comic timing is much better. He sang better and was very funny. Brooke was better than I thought. She sang well, danced well and acted well. She tires to be more morbid than Bebe and it works. She meshed well with Roger. I didn't sense that with Roger and Bebe.

The show has changed so much now. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but they took a song in the first act and separated it into two scenes and totally re-choreographed the tango and rewrote some of the music to it. While I missed the old tango, this one worked great for Brooke and Roger. It stopped the show again as it did with Nathan and Bebe. In fact Adam had to wait to say his next line since the audience was going crazy! It was also great seeing Heidi and Adam now that they settled into their roles and added their own spin on things. Heidi also stopped the show with "Waiting" and I loved what she did with the scene alone with Adam in their room. Brad improved too and put his own spin on the role now. He was incredible and fun.

The audience was very enthusiastic and gave a well deserved standing ovation. It just seemed like everyone had tremendous and renewed energy last night and their was not one weak performance.

For those of you who saw it in its two incarnations, I was curious as to what you thought of the show in its current form.

I'm looking forward to going back now and seeing it when Brooke settles in. While she is very good now, I'm sure she will become even stronger just like all the other new cast members. My finance and I both agreed the show did a full 180 from when we saw it last right after Nathan left.

Thanks for reading my perhaps long and rambling review, but I was very happy and excited to see the show in this great and fun form.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!!!!!! i saw it with the original cast and loved it. granted it was not perfect but it was definitely fun. i would love to see how the new cast interprets it :)

I saw the show with its original cast as well. I loved it, although it did have its problems. I didn't think the show could do well without Nathan. He was the show.

Glad to hear that the show is as good as ever with the recent changes. I would be interested in seeing it again.

I too saw the original cast and really enjoyed the show (I know, I know, I know- it's not a masterpiece!) I have always pulled for the show and I wish the new cast and the show in general, the beast of luck.


**Side bar- Why would someone not accept PMs? That's the funniest part!!!
