I'd love to see it, but as a producer there is no way in hell I'd put money in it.

Hmmmmmmm...... while Chenoweth's performance was certainly terrific and Tony-worthy, I wonder if the show itself has enough appeal to be financially successful.

Not unless they replace Michael Cerveris with Brad Pitt.

I do hope this comes back if only for a limited engament (which is what i would expect). I really want to see this show and of course see the Fabulous Chenoweth.

Then again it would be worth it for a new cast recording with Gets and Chenoweth.

I wonder who will play the Larry Blyden roles...?

I actually didn't find Chenoweth all that ideally cast in this (though I was a big supporter beforehand). She lacked a bit of the mature sexuality needed to pull off the second act (and third act, for that matter). And she's just a touch too calculating in her zaniness.

These problems, of course, may be because she had a minute and a half of rehearsal and could, in a full production, completely disappear.

Why can't they just give it a simple Off-Broadway production with some unknowns? Bigger isn't always better.

Who would play the narrarator/snake? If Michael is doing Sweeney, would his contract be up by then? Anyone have any ideas as to who would take his place in this mounting (if it actually happens)?

Because, unless they're doing with a piano and a cast of 5, it could never turn a profit off-Broadway (not to mention you could forget being able to afford Chenoweth and/or Gets unless you're charging $80+). The economic model for commercial off-Broadway is broken and unfortunately the only way a show of any size can run profitably in this city anymore is in a Broadway house (and obviously that's no guarantee either).

I could see this being done at the Vivian Beaumont.

Maybe they can get a "name" for Cerveris' roles?

I agree with the sentiment that this could only be profitable if it were a Roundabout or LCT type of thing.

The Beaumont is booked in the fall with Stoppard's Coast of Utopia and I believe that South Pacific starts there in the Spring

I really would love to see an actual production of this. I bought the cast recording after watching Barbara Harris perform "Oh To Be A Movie Star" on one of the Broadway Lost Treasures DVDs. I really fell in love with the music. It would be interesting to see Chenoweth in the role, and from what I heard she was great in Encores! A new cast recording would be a nice bonus as well. Now all I need is for "Pippin" to have an incredible revival on Broadway and I'll be all set =)

I remember seeing the original with Barbara Harris & Hal Holbrook . I believe Blyden was still in it than

It was pleasant enough but nothing great shakes. Since my wife never saw it, if dscounted tickets come along we will see it

missed it at Encores, so i'm happy it will be back. they said between fall of this year or spring of next year for being on broadway, so does anyone think cerveris will be back in? or will he still be in sweeney?

I fully enjoyed the ENCORES! version of the show a few years ago. This might work as a "chamber musical" at one of Broadway's smaller houses. Maybe the Helen Hayes.

How about Alec Baldwin or Eric McCormack as the Snake/Narrator?

In any even, I look forward to seeing the show again.

God, I just LOVE this score. I have to say, I adore Cheno but I wasn't really loving her in this role; I may have just been cranky, though. Malcolm Gets, though, that man is just BRILLIANT.

And Michael was, of course, beautiful and wonderful, although not really at his best.

I would LOVE to see this again.

I'd never heard the score before seeing it at Encores last year. I saw it and fell in love. I'd love to see it return to Broadway.

Guys keep in mind that this is hardly confirmed. They're still talking. I would LOVE for this to happen. Kristin was indeed wonderful in Encores and I actually thought she was perfectly cast in this role. I think the point of different actors doing different roles is to get different takes on it. I haven't seen anyone else in this so from not really knowing the show, I enjoyed it a lot. I wouldn't start counting Tonys for Kristin quite yet. If this comes back to Broadway next season she'll have a HUGE contender in Audra (Lizzie in 110 in the Shade). we all know Audra's track record.

and Cervaris did the "110" workshop so he might be busy.
I think Alan Cumming is kinda snakelike, Eric McCormick is too nice and Baldwin too not nice.
How 'bout a rock star?
