So, as we all know the Avenue Q tour is set to start off in San Diego on the 30th and I was lucky enough to be invited by one of my good friends in the cast to the final run-through before they flew out to San Diego. The tour cast features some veteran Avenue Q cast members from Broadway and Las Vegas productions as well as some new comers.
Robert McClure (who played Nicky/Trekkie on Broadway) is playing Princeton/Rob on tour and plays the part great!
Kelli Sawyer (who played Kate/Lucy The Slut in Vegas and on Broadway while Mary Faber was out) is reprising her role as Kate/Lucy The Slut and has an amazing voice and sassyness when she plays Lucy.
Christian Anderson (who played Nicky/Trekkie on Broadway) is reprising his role as well as Nicky/Trekkie and still does a great job.
Cole Porter (who was in the Vegas production) plays Brian and does a great job of bringing subtle comedy to the show as playing the struggling, unemployed comedian.
Angela Ai (who played Christmas Eve on Broadway) reprises her role as Christmas Eve and brings a funny new take on the Japanese therapist who makes you laugh your ass off in the 2nd act.
Carla Renata plays Gary Coleman and brings a new energy to the character as seen in "Schadenfreude".
Minglie Chen (who was an understudy on Broadway) plays Mrs. T and one of the Bears and plays the sweet and innocent role of one of the Bears very well.
Some highlights of this production (without giving the story away) are Kelli Sawyer singing "Special", Angela Ai singing "The More You Love Someone", and Robert McClure singing "If You Were Gay" with Christian Anderson.
Having seen the show about 17 times since it opened, the tour production is definitely going to be an accurate depiction of what its like on Broadway. Plus if anyone is considering waiting by the stage door outside the various cities, the cast is VERY friendly and more than willing to sign autographs and take pictures. Hope you guys all enjoy the tour and keep posting on here to let me know how all my friends are doing.

I look forward to hearing an "objective" review of the cast, and not one of someone who is buddies with them. If that review was actually well written, I would assume it was some intern from the Producing Office, shilling the tour. I mean, am I the only person that finds it fishy that a person took the time to sign up to this site the same day they post some crappy, "everyone is doing a great job" review of some show?

Oh, I'm not saying the show was perfect. There were a few lines that were changed from the current performance that I didn't necessarily like but other than that, they still have 9 days to perfect everything else. It was kinda hard to tell how everything flowed because there was no set, it was just a rehersal hall. Oh and the only reason that I joined today is because I thought I had a BWW account before but evidently didn't. Also, I'm not an "intern", just a fan of the show.

Maybe this isn't the place to ask, but why isn't Avenue Q coming to Chicago?
Is it just because our theatres are filled up with long-running productions of things like Wicked?
Oooops, double post.

Whoa. There's a guy named Cole Porter?
I wish my name was Stephen Sondheim.

I find it suspect as well. In light of the tour/Vegas exclusive controversy, it's not surprising that they would try to get out the word of mouth by using a shill. I still think this show should have done a Spelling Bee: open extended run companies in larger theatre markets (Chicago, LA, Boston) and launch a smaller-run tour.

Mister broadwayguy4...
First of all... I was at that Final run threw for the tour rehearsal... and yes... It was pretty damn good! I know Mike pretty well... and since he won't say this... I will... weren't you ever taught that assuming things... is pretty damn pathetic... pathetic... indeed... sort of like your snobby attitude... Why are you so bitter... did you audition for the tour and you could coordinate syncing the puppetry to your movement? Or are you just "jealous" that you weren't there... keep your snotty "objective comments" to yourself... and simply put... IF you don't like Avenue Q... then don't see it... and don't worry about what's going on with it!
PS... GROW UP and leave Mike alone... the kid likes the play... and if he want's to share on what an honor it was for him to be invited to something like what he was invited to... that's awesome for him... you have no place to say what you did in the post... Some intern hahaha how pathetic are you to think someone would waste there time to sign up for the message board to entertain a fool like you...
AND YES... I joined just to post this for YOU!
