Thanks to Valentina3 for putting me in a "Let's write novelty lyrics" mood.
Sing our title song to the tune of Rosemary Clooney's "Oh, You Beautiful Doll." And enjoy. (I whipped this up in about five minutes.)
BroadwayWorld message boards,
You snarky message board queens.
Let me post about Bette Midler
Then write a review of FIDDLER
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, you beautiful boards.
And politics somehow pervade the mix,
Does so-and-so come out for stagedoor pics?
BroadwayWorld message boards
We sure know how to make scenes…
We survived the Muringate,
And comments from After Eight
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Long live BroadwayWorld’s Boards!

Does someone have a copy of Marc Shaiman's "Pick A Little" video from *ahem* 2004 (I think that's the correct date)? My searches find articles - but no active links to the video.

Ok so now you need to write a whole MUSICAL about the boards... I can't wait to hear the emotional ballad "Betsy Wolfe Left Carousel?!?" and its heartwarming reprise, "Lindsay Mendez Joined Carousel!!"
edit: and how could I forget the soon-to-be-classic tent pole song, "Emmy Rossum as Mimi in Rent"!

J'adore Ado. Nice work, haha.
And Corky, the 'Emmy Rossum must play everything' is definitely the "I want" song of our musical.

Yes! (There'd also be a duet that's just you and Cinders making Smash references. Wow, I'm starting to think that I'd actually pay good money to see this lol)

That is the first thing I thought of! But I didn't realize there aren't any working links. I checked too. ![]()

Can someone explain (or link me to the thread) what Muringate is?

You'll have to watch the show to find out.

You asked for it and you got it, my friends. The new short musical, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD!, coming soon to a theatre near you. Actually, most of these songs are already written...they were salvages from my scrapped show ideas.
All the action of Chairman of the Board! takes place over a theatre-themed Internet forum. A young woman, Georgia, sits at a piano and introduces the audience to the world of the message board (Theme).
She is an aspiring songwriter. Token is an actor. Shower Guy works the box office. Fangirl loves everything. Clockface hates everything. And Werk Star is a semi-successful actress who monitors the users’ posts.
Token and Shower Guy turn on their computers and lament all the junk on the Web (Spam Email). Fangirl, meanwhile, immediately begins posting the latest Broadway news, dream casts, and speculation, much to the chagrin of the more mature users (She Must Do Everything).
Chords of dramatic music signal the arrival of Clockface, a forum user who despises all plays and musicals made after 1970 (Requiem). Fangirl and Shower Guy decide to team up and find out his true identity. However, interference from Werk Star hinders their efforts; she believes that severe criticism has no place on the message board (Repent Sinner). Clockface’s account is suspended.
On the other side of the stage, Token and Georgia get to know each other better. It is clear that a romance is blooming as a sad Georgia confides her desire to build connections with real people (Elton John). Token suggests they meet up in person, signifying the only time in the show when two characters physically meet.
After much digging, Shower Guy announces that the Clockface username belongs to one Steve Josh, an older gentlemen who has been in showbiz for years. Delighted by this revelation, Fangirl leads Georgia and the others in singing a hymn to their god (Mr. Sondheim). For now, at least, the posters on this forum are in harmony about one thing. THE END.

Alan Henry said: "Hi all!
We caught your requests in this thread. The links to GMBWW weren't dead - the format was just outdated since the original was posted so long ago. Modern browsers didn't know what to do with the file format.
We've updated the original video and you can watch it here!

It won't play for me. It freezes on the ad.

Ado - you're hilarious. We need a few (dozen) more gay men in that story.

Clockface (obviously) and Shower Guy (presumably) are gay, but maybe I'll throw in a Gay Men's Chorus for the company numbers: "Theme," "Repent Sinner," and the Finale.
