Has it been confirmed that The Bodyguard will be going into the Marquis next spring/summer. If not, what other theatres could be viable options?

By next spring I would think a few more theaters like maybe the Palace and Broadway will be open if Annie or Cinderella closes after the holidays.

I don't expect Cinderella to close anytime soon, I could see it going into the Palace. They could have done one heck of a marquee at the Winter Garden.

Winter Garden has Rocky The Musical coming. That is why they are moving Ma Ma Mia.

That would be the reason I said "they could have".

What you don't think they are going to do wonders with the big mirror surface in the pass through between 45 and 46th street??? Like they did with every other show that has been at the Marquis.

I couldn't agree more. I was thinking the same about them moving it into the Palace

I expect Cinderella to wrap up it's run shortly after New Years of 2015, giving it a solid 2 year run, once again just my thought.

I mean it's a gorgeous, nice, fun show, it just depends on who will they be casting in the roles too. I'd be fine with them (and I think they will) stunt casting this show to keep it running. There's a lot of celebrities who have the potential to take on the leads, and moving it into the Palace would give it more attention.

I think this show will be the next "Ghost"-NYC and West End audiences seem diametrically opposite. I think this show will open well then tank hard. The Palace is a flop magnet.

The Marquis renovation starts in January and is lasting 6-9 months so if Its going there its not going to be spring I imagine.

@Bettyboy

"HATE-Gershwin, Palace, Marquis, Broadway."

I can see why you would say that.

Betty, what do you mean by it will do a ghost and that the audiences are diametrically opposite?

Ghost ended up being a flop in London too, it just wasnt as big a flop. It seems to be badly produced, and even though sales on the UK tour have been good, the tour is finishing early in March. I think a large part of Ghosts problem was bad producing and transferring far too quickly.

I wouldnt say audiences are that different

The Bodyguard has been discounting for quite a while in London and i can see it doing a Ghost type of run in the end. It will be interesting to see if Beverly Knight boosts sales enough. I think the Palace would be too big a venue for the show as it stands at the moment. If they get Jennifer Hudson or someone similar then it maybe a different story.
