I noticed in the playbill of The Book Of Mormon that there are no MUSICAL NUMBERS listed. All the musicals I have been to have an ACT ONE, ACT TWO listings, which tell the theatergoer what is next. Does anyone know why this is?
This is a trend I normally see with Jukebox musicals...I find it odd that it's happening in the Playbill of an original show.
I vaguely remember someone posting early on in previews that they weren't planning to because some of the numbers give away the plot. The Book of Mormon seems to be keeping a lot of secrets from people who haven't seen the show. The Tony Performance didn't have the usual explanation/context at the beginning and they picked a number which gives away essentially nothing. That's my best guess.
I think the song titles give away some of the jokes. I like that they kept the song titles out of the playbill.
Avenue Q does not list songs either.

next to normal didnt have the musical numbers either
I tell all my friends not to listen to cast recording til they see the show. I think less you know the better.
I prefer when they don't list the musical numbers when it's a show I haven't seen before...then I'm not distracted by thinking "Oh, this is THAT song that was listed" while I'm watching. I'd rather be surprised
