Of course I've seen it.
It was an amazing theatrical experience, and the second best new musical of the season I've seen, right behind Passing Strange.

Posted: 4/4/08 at 6:49amI saw the dress rehearsal 2 weeks ago and loved every second of it. There is no way that Faith Prince cant win the Tony for one of the most amazing performances ive sen in years. Great news that we will have a cast recording soon.

I saw it last night and you can count me in!
"It was an amazing theatrical experience, and the second best new musical of the season I've seen, right behind Passing Strange."
I agree completely. And the complaints about the show's score are baffling to me. I found the music and lyrics to be beautiful. And the whole evening was beautifully produced and directed. John Doyle really knows how to create characters and tell a story. Of course the material he's been given helps as well.

Posted: 4/5/08 at 10:45amDont expect The Little Mermaid', Young Frankenstein' and all the other big shows and you'll find this a great treat away from the mindless other fodder on offer. A brilliant little show. Yes 'little'- no big sets or mindless choreography etc.

Not only are people starting to have more realistic expectations of what they are going to see, but every day there are rehearsals with much tightening going on.
And because of all that, I've noticed a huge increase of love for the show.
That's what previews are for.

I haven't seen the show, but I'm choosing to be optimistic. I love everything I have seen and heard.
Should we get a fan name?
Suggestions:
The Cab Drivers
The Wedding Planners
The Confirmed Bachelors
I like the Cab Drivers.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

The Cab Drivers is pretty good, but I want to hear if anyone else has other ideas before we decide on it.

Did anybody suggest "The Caterers"?
I think that's funny.

I will go for Cab Drivers- bec. it kinda represents the show...their source of income. what will be sacrifice to have that wedding> it has a meaning to me..
Confirmed bachelors- is that a.k.a for gay in the 50's (per the video) may not apply to everyone.
Wedding Planners- sound like a group related to Wedding Singer the musical.
just my 2 cents...

I'll join the love thread.
I thought this show had problems. Particularly, I was disappointed that the bride's change of heart was completely unmusicalized. It should have been explained. But for the most part, musically, it was lovely.
Overall, it was smart, well directed, well acted, and rather haunting. The moment where Prince just stands silent for the longest time was exceptionally moving. The performance I saw was basically loathed by the audience members around me, and that disappointed me, because I think there's a lot of craft here, from Harvey and both Johns. I'd hate to see this one dismissed, even though it might not be for everybody.

Posted: 4/19/08 at 1:49amTHANK GOODNESS for this thread! I have renewed faith in this website. This is by far my favorite show of the year. If Faith doesn't get the Tony...well she just has to get it, that's all. Best performance of the year without question. Best I've seen in the eight years I've lived in NYC, frankly.
