The Color Purple--SD

Hi all,

Seeing "The Color Purple" On Wed. night and so excited! Was just wondering if anyone has done the stage door yet after the show and if Jennifer Hudson typically comes out and signs playbills.

Thanks!

I saw the show back on Black Friday. At the stage door, the guards there announced that neither Jennifer or Cynthia would be coming out that evening. My mom, aunt, and I decided to wait anyway. A woman came out of the stage door and started handing out playbills signed by Jennifer. Then Cynthia came out along with Danielle on a hoverboard. As they were signing, all of a sudden Jennifer came out and spent so much time signing for everyone. Once the actresses finished signing and left, mostly everyone left and they took down the barricades. But we waited a little longer and a lot of the rest of the cast came out and they were more than happy to to sign for everyone who was still waiting.

This was almost a month ago, so I don't know if everything it still the same, but that's how it all played out for me. Enjoy the show! It's amazing!

I was there tonight and it was packed. They still have it just on each side of the staged door running across the sidewalk so it only is about 10 people across. I lucked out and got to the front of the barricade. A piece of advice, when you come out of the theatre hang a right and go to the far side of the barricade. Everybody stopped at the first barricade but I kept walking and was able to secure a good spot. Everyone came out fairly quickly with Cynthia coming first followed by Kyle and Danielle together. They said Jennifer wasn't coming out but about 5 mins later she came out. Then some of the ensemble came out and signed. They all seemed genuinely touched and one girl even brought Danielle to tears. There was a lot of security but for the most part it was civilized.

Stage doored tonight after seeing the show. Pretty much the whole cast came out and signed and posed for pictures- including Heather,Danielle and Cynthia. Cynthia couldn't stop for pictures tho. I asked her and she was about to, but the guy she was with (possible her manager or assistant) said she coulden't. I think she had someplace to be because he tried to get her to just sign for one side and get in the car, but she ended up signing for both sides. It was hot, humid as hell and packed. They still have the bars set up as before, so only a few could get in front.
