The Color Purple - NBC Today Show Performance

The cast just performed seconds after hearing about their Tony nominations! They performed The Color Purple (Reprise) and they truly were great, as usual.



Very interesting to see the staging without Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks as it happens on stage, I guess since they were not featured in the number they were not needed/asked to be there. Cynthia's performance was jaw-dropping as usual as she was giddy and happy after finishing when Matt Lauer reminded her of her Tony nomination at the end. If anyone finds a clip, please post it!

Can't quite figure out who messed up the last "look what God has done...". Probably someone who was given the track for the first time because Shug and Sophia weren't in (funny how they'd give it to a guy though). That's the beauty of this show - the harmonies are soooo preciously designed that smallest of flubs make a huge difference. I'm very proud of how "in character" the whole cast remained even after the mistake.
