Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea for a musical?
Miranda Priestley is a character who absolutely
wouldn't sing, since what makes her so formidable is her droll iciness. Her emotions are never heightened, which is when the most organic musical moments occur. Trying to do anything beyond that would feel very artificial, I think, not to mention how hard it would be to improve on the iconic performance of Meryl Streep.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
