The Devil Wears Prada

The rumor is that Fox Theatricals have purchased the Broadway rights to The Devil Wears Prada.

Has anyone heard who is writing the script, music, lyrics?

Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea for a musical?

Miranda Priestley is a character who absolutely wouldn't sing, since what makes her so formidable is her droll iciness. Her emotions are never heightened, which is when the most organic musical moments occur. Trying to do anything beyond that would feel very artificial, I think, not to mention how hard it would be to improve on the iconic performance of Meryl Streep.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Is there anything indicating it will be a musical? Maybe it'll be a non-musical dramedy.

Hell, maybe they even picked up the rights just to block somebody else from doing it.

I think it would be great as a play... and it would be wonderful to see Meryl Streep perform the role live!

"Hell, maybe they even picked up the rights just to block somebody else from doing it."
It's a Fox film. I'm pretty sure the company controls the rights. It doesn't have to worry about others doing an adaptation if the company doesn't want them to.

Loved the book. Loved the movie. Don't think I would love the musical.
