I saw it last night, and I thought it was fantastic!! I LOVED the cast, especially the Man in Chair!
He is hilarious! I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the cast. I'd say they are top-notch.

Posted: 7/11/08 at 1:34amIt's pretty good and I really enjoyed myself. I don't think anything could compare to the original cast - I loved them all so much! - but everyone is very strong, and Jonathan Crombie makes a very good Man in Chair. The only person who underwhelmed me was Nancy Opel, but she has the hard job of following Beth Leavel. I just didn't laugh at her much.

"Nancy Opel is great so long as you haven't seen Beth Leavel in the role."
Or Elaine Paige, whom I liked even better. She was the best thing in the London production -- well except for Bob Martin repeating his performance.

I agree. I couldn't help but compare the tour cast to the original cast. It's kind of hard to live up to Beth and Sutton's performances, IMHO.
I was somewhat disappointed in the actresses who played Trix and Kitty, but then again, those are such throwaway roles.

It was great when I saw it, except for a few cast members who I didn't like at all.
The people playing Trix, Robert Martin, and Adolpho really fell short.
But Jonathan Crombie was so fantastic that it didn't matter.

Posted: 7/11/08 at 9:33pmThe tour cast is great! I saw the original company and the only character I really felt wasn't as good as the original was Janet. It's hard to compare to Sutton. But the tour is GREAT.

Hmmm. I LOVED Andrea Chamberlain as Janet and thought Mark Ledbetter was fabulous as Robert, and I saw the tour 3 times (and the original Bway cast 15 times). But everybody has their favorites.

I just saw it tonight as well. The show was soo hilarious! Johnathon Crombie was PERFECT :) He was the best thing about the whole show.
I enjoyed the rest of the cast too, but I cannot compare them to the originals, since I never saw them
Wow. What a great show!
I am still laughing at all the jokes :)

Petite, I am so glad you liked the show...but I'm not surprised (since you have such good taste!)
I guess I never realized you were a Left-Coaster.

Posted: 7/12/08 at 1:39pmI wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I wanted to. The musical was fantastic, but I had a terrible migrane which caused me to puke right after the show. Also didn't help that I was in the last row of the balcony.

Now I'm sad because I was just there! (Maybe next time.
)
I was actually going to plan my trip to the West Coast around when Drowsy was there, but forces beyond my control dictated that I go in June. (I had a fab time though.)
Jonathan Crombie is SO good in the role. Man in Chair's big meltdown is one of the most hilarious moments in recent theatre history!
I didn't realize that James Moye had left the tour. He was wonderful in a role so closely identified in my mind with Danny Burstein that I was truly worried beforehand. But Mr. Moye's take on the character was hysterically funny.
(I completely agree about Mike Ditka, too!)
