Ewww, why? She's been famous for what, two years?
I could think of a dozen more people with way more substantial careers and way more interesting lives they could be making a movie about.

Some of you here didn't want her in dreamgirls, which I can sort of understand, you didn't think she was a right fit for the Effie character.

However, now I am beginning to think that some of you simply didn't want her in dreamgirls because you simply detest her. I'm saying that because now some of you don't even want her to have other opportunities. Let it go folks. Also, I wouldn't put to much stock in her acting not being good because you don't like a 1 minuite promo clip. This was shown to tv critics on Friday 7/14 and this is what one had to say.

"Back when Fantasia Barrino was contending on American Idol, she gave a performance of Summertime that was not simply music but drama.

It made people take notice of her in a way that they hadn't before, and put her firmly on the road to the title.

I have a feeling that there's at least one similar moment in The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale, the movie premiering Aug. 19 on Lifetime. Barrino plays herself in it, and there's a church scene that -- even in a brief, edited form shown to TV critics on Friday -- is as dramatic and nakedly emotional as her turn on Idol was."

This is what Viola Davis (a Tony Winner) say's about Fantasia's acting:

`I think she's excellent, and I'll tell you why,' said Viola Davis, a Tony award-winning actress who plays Barrino's mother in the movie. ``Because she's honest. She doesn't put anything on.... Then you have to come with honesty yourself.... You can't have a false moment.

``It doesn't happen a lot,' Davis said after a Fantasia Barrino Story press conference. ``So many actors are into their vanity. They're so aware of the camera, they're terrified of experiencing certain emotions. (Barrino) didn't have that.'

Also, I find it laughable that someone would recommend that Fantasia get acting lessons from Diana Degarmo or Jennifer Hudson. Why the heck would she do that when she's surrounded by Tony Award winners and Emmy winners who can give her way better advice then the newbies!!!! Duh!!!

Also, she wrote and autobiography last year and movie rights are bought to books all the time. That's what happened in this case, lifetime, read the book, liked it and offered her cash for the movie rights. Then the begged her to star as herself, she originally didn't want to act in it.

"However, now I am beginning to think that some of you simply didn't want her in dreamgirls because you simply detest her."

And? If we don't find her talented, why would we want her to have a role in a musical film that we're going to pay to see? Makes sense to me.

This isn't a Fantasia fan forum. Go get your panties in a wad about "haters" someplace else. Thanks.
Personally as long as she keeps her ass off Broadway and sticks to cheesy lifetime movies where she can play herself and cry a whole bunch (she does it all the time anyway so I'm sure it wasn't tough), I don't care.
As far as her castmates and producer praising her at the press conference, what does that prove other than they are smart enough to not go in there and say "Gawd she was bad, the editing is going to have to be highly creative to make this piece of **** watchable" ????? I hope this turns out ok, I really do, but Dwayne Wayne is one of her co-stars for God's sake. That just about says it all.

"Personally as long as she keeps her ass off Broadway"

Get over yourself Sweetie! I don't think Fantasia has even expressed any interest in Broadway.

Just make sure you keep your own ass off Broadway and everyone will be ok.

"How do you feel about Usher coming to broadway in Chicago? "

Why don't you go to the thread on this topic and read for yourself.

All are entitled to their opinion on here, though it may be contrary to yours, people have the right to dislike Fantasia and her style.

I was actually a Fantasia backer when she was on AI and would like to see her succeed but still think the life-story is pretty damn premature. What exactly has she accomplished to date? Winning a reality television show competition? She hasn't yet proven herself to be a lasting entity. Yes she has had a hard life, but so have many, the true tale is when she actually rises above it and becomes something more. It's too early to tell whether that will happen yet.

Half of the country doesn't even remember who she is anymore, I really doubt that a made-for-TV movie is going to be a draw.

People are now sick for not liking Fantasia's movie? Wow, you say you aren't one of her deranged fans but if that's true you MUST be Fantasia herself because I can't imagine anyone else getting this upset over mild criticism.

Again, this isn't a fantasia fan board. If you are going to go off the deep end over a lack of 100% Fantasia ass kissing then find a fan site or stay here but get over it. If you like her that should be enough without having to render your garments over "haters."

I hope the movie's good. I enjoy Fantasia. She seems like a sweet girl and she has a unique voice.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

"Word from sources say that it will include red sequined halter tops, huge amounts of undulation, pigs, sweat, blood, Barbara Cook and a huge staircase full of 40 year old women."

Replace Cook with Betty Buckley and you've definatley got a smash hit on your hands!
