Word from sources say that it will include red sequined halter tops, huge amounts of undulation, pigs, sweat, blood, Barbara Cook and a huge staircase full of 40 year old women.
Maybe they'll put her in a side ponytail with a "red" scrunchee symbolizing Fantasia's lost innocence.
I'm really looking forward to this.
...did they really need to let her do something again?

Posted: 5/5/06 at 2:11pmOh my God! At first I thought this had to be a joke. I'm absolutely horrified.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 2:25pmNO!!! I love me some Fantasia, but even I feel the need to mock this.
re: The Fantasia Barrino Story - Directed by Debbie Allen#5
Posted: 5/5/06 at 2:28pmWhile this is sort of horrifying, let's remember that Debbie only choreographed "Carie," she didn't direct it. And she can OCCASIONALLY direct a piece with feeling and subtelty, i.e. PBS'S "The Old Settler" starring Debbie and her sister.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 3:00pmWell, Brennan88--I do have to say that Ms. Allen is possibly a better director than choreographer (which is not saying a whole lot) it has as much to do with this just being a bad idea as with Ms. Allen's directing capabilities.

Posted: 5/5/06 at 3:02pmHow will she direct Fantasia's freefall into obscurity as possibly the least successful Idol?
re: The Fantasia Barrino Story - Directed by Debbie Allen#9

oh honey, Ruben is by far the least successful idol - and Kelly Clarkson really just broke out about two years ago.
I do hope there is a scene in it, though, when she finds out that Jennifer Hudson has been cast instead of her in DREAMGIRLS. High drama there.
re: The Fantasia Barrino Story - Directed by Debbie Allen#10
Posted: 5/5/06 at 3:09pmThey should probably write that scene with Latoya London involved as well.

I'm sad that Jennifer Holliday won't be playing her mother in this Lifetime movie. She could have sang a song, better yet:
She could be cooking in her kitchen and find out that her daughters' career was going down the drain. She drops her frying pan and busts out in a rendition of And I Am Telling You as she runs out of the house into the snow trying to catch a cab to the record company trying to save her Fantasia's "dying" career...
Hmm...this sounds vaguely familiar...haven't we heard this before?
Maybe Debbie Allen will make a cameo and play LaToya?

Posted: 5/5/06 at 4:40pmActually I think Justin might take the cake, when it comes to least successful Idol's (at least in the runner-up category).

It is on the off-topic board.
Wiz, we mentioned Jennifer Holliday at the same time...spooky!
Does that mean she is gonna haunt us?

then why are we discussing it in 2 places? There are two different sections for a reason.

Yero,
The Main Point is DEBBIE ALLEN doing something else. I never emphasized FANTASIA in the message.

I just saw the trailer on lifetime.
It's a 3 NIGHT preimere. THREE NIGHTS. For Fantasia, 3 NIGHTS? Come on.
Fantasia's acting looks laughable at some of those clips. But come on 3 nights for this? Give me a break.

Posted: 7/15/06 at 3:07amI saw the trailer and also found the brief clips of her acting to be cringe-inducing. The lines she was delivering were pretty cheesy. We'll have to wait and see but I'm already thinking girlfriend should have called up Jennifer Hudson and Diana DeGarmo to get some acting tips.

I just heard that Jennifer Hudson beat out Fantasia for this part too!
Debbie Allen thought Jennifer would make a better Fantasia after all.
Damn, that girl can't catch a break.
