Yes, since Dodgers had such a great run with Good Vibrations they are now producing Jersey Boys!
Sad as it is that Little Women closed--I really liked it--I think this is great news.
I LOVED Jersey Boys. It's atypical of most of the other "juke-box" shows--maybe more like TBFO in terms of the story being told. Anyway, I hope it does well--it's a really enjoyable show, and I will be interested to see what happens w/ the casting b/c the four original guys in La Jolla were fantastic.
I have to agree. I'm not a fan or revues and juke-box musicals, generally, but one that is well put together, chooses its songs wisely, and is played well can be very good. I have no beef with Mamma Mia other than that its success inspired too many horrendous shows, and Smokey Joe's Cafe was one of the more enjoyable evenings I had spent in a theater when it first opened.
I didn't catch Jersey Boys at La Jolla, but the reviews I read were encouraging, and the word of mouth was very positive. I hope that it does moderately well, but not so well that we get backstories on every music group that has ever existed.
Ok, the whole "jukebox musical" is getting OLD.
This makes me sad.... i miss LW already.
Oh well. At lest it's not a soundtrack musical (Remember FOOTLOOSE? SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER? URBAN COWBOY?)
hey! URBAN COWBOY was HOT!

I think this is GREAT NEWS! The Virginia is a fantastic house and it shouldn't be dark. I actually saw Little Women there a few weeks ago and the house looked so bare and empty. When the audience is small, it makes you realize how huge the house truly is.
One thing to note here is the fact that Jersey Boys is not the typically JUKEBOX fare ... it really got amazing, glowing reviews in San Diego. It's worked out and ready to come in, as opposed to Good Vibrations. It has an amazing director at the helm and it had promise. It just has to find an audience and build word of mouth.
So props to the Dodgers for bringing in this incredible show. I wish them the best in this new endeavor and look forward to seeing it. Fingers crossed, I think this is the show to get them back on track.
Looking forward to it.
