Is anybody going? Because if you are, you need to post about it.
I unfortunately can't be there tonight, but I definitely want to hear about it.
I would love to, but I've got class. UGH. And this professor somehow missed the memo that we are supposed to be allowed one cut, so I'd lose points. *cries*
Depends on my caffeine intake. We'll see.
Bump. Anybody else?

Em, do you know what the rush policy is?
I believe it's 2 tickets per student ID, $21.50 apiece, two hours before curtain. The guy at the box office told me it's not a set location, but they're just going to dress the house, so you could well end up with really great seats.
Thanks... I think I'm going to go on Saturday. I was out a little too late last night to do it again.
They also have $25 Balcony in advance.
Not the greatest view but Im sure you can move down.
Plus the show has a lot of dialogue so you wont miss much from the high angle.
I'd be interested to see what this production is like.
I've got tickets for a new production of The Homecoming here in London at The Almeida Theatre for the end of January.
I'll be there tonight! Looking forward to it.

please review! I so wish I could go tonight... but I've cut so many classes already that I don't want to sacrifice all my dignity this close to the end of the term.

anyone? anything?
did Pinter suck the audience into a vortex and not let them out..?
I guess we have to wait for the Zoloft to take effect before we get some comments.
It ended around 9, so hopefully WAT will post soon. I spoke to him very very briefly, so I'm eager to hear more.

I was there. The show seemed to be in really good shape for a first preview. No noticeable problems (save the one time that Raul Esparza stumbled over a line). The set is rather less than stellar. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to look like it did or maybe they haven't gotten around to finishing it. In the grand scheme of things it didn't make too much of a difference.
As for the show itself, I would be a bad judge because I just don't care for the play. I knew going in the story and it didn't make sense to me then and still doesn't now. I really have no idea why things happen they way they do as there doesn't seem to be any noticeable motivation for it. If anyone can help explain it to me, I'd appreciate it.
Performances were good to great across the board. I would give the MVP award to Esparza. He does have the flashiest role, and he makes the most of it. Ian McShane is an excellent actor and he gives a great performance. However, it is also the exact performance I expected Mr. McShane to give. He didn't surprised me, but he certainly met my high expectations. Michael McKean is the more sympathetic member of the family and I wish his character had more presence in the story. Not to sure what to make of James Frain. As I mentioned previously, I have idea of why he lets things progress the way they do. His performance doesn't help to give any clues either. Eve Best's Ruth just comes across as odd and perhaps a bit crazy from the start. Unlike Frain, at least I knew that she wasn't in her right mind to begin with.
Overall, it looks like it'll be a very good production of a not very good play.
2 hours long with one 15 minute intermission.

FYI -- McKean is 60.

Wow, I stand corrected.
McKean looks great for 60! If you told me Ian McShane was 65, I'd say you were crazy. But I would be wrong in that case too.
Thanks, OSU.
I obviously haven't seen the set yet, but I'm wondering if the house isn't supposed to look somewhat worn down. I'm hoping some photos go up on the website soon. How are the costumes?

I think -- and I've never studied Pinter, so I'm going with my gut and could be completely wrong... someone please correct me if I am -- that's the point. I don't think you're meant to get it. You get what happens -- the story is all perfectly clear -- but you don't get why. Why is Teddy so passive? How can he just sit there and watch Joey on top of his wife? Why they he have a conversation with his brothers about whether or not she's a tease, knowing one of them is trying to sleep with her? Why does Ruth decide to stay? Do the brothers think she knows what's going on? And so forth. Personally, that's actually one of the things I really like about this play... that kind of "... wtf?" feeling it leaves you with, because all of these completely ridiculous things have just happened. But it can definitely be frustrating.
Oy to my ridiculous typing error. And... incestuous slip. Edited.
Um, Ian McShane - born September 29 1942. He just turned 65. Michael McKean - born October 17, 1947. He just turned 60.
Gee, I always knew I was crazy....
