The Kate Baldwin Appreciation Thread

My first exposure to her was in Dolly, but looking back, she's done so many incredibly talented things in her career (Her Irene will always be my favorite, though). Her voice is so unique and gorgeous, I've truly never heard anything like it. She adds a new flavor to every character she plays; let it be Sandra Bloom or Anna Leonowens, she's got the talent. I love her. Her technique is so strange. It's unlike any other voice and yet I think it's absolutely stunning. Her mix is so strong!

I'm so happy this thread exists, because I just came back from seeing Hello, Dolly! and I thought Kate Baldwin was an absolute standout. I love her "Ribbons Down My Back", both live and on the cast album. Her part in "It Only Takes A Moment" tonight was fantastic, and I am blown away with the uniqueness of her voice.

Has she ever played Mother in Ragtime? She'd be pretty brilliant.

I fell in love with her as a performer in Big Fish. She was such a great match for Norbert Leo Butz. She delivered such raw and heartbreaking emotion in that show. I've been following her career ever since. Here's hoping she gets a lead role of her own soon!

Kate won Best Actor of the Year by the Sarah Siddons Society of Chicago! Congrats to Kate, her performance is up there as one of the recent greats.

She's great! I first heard of her on the 'Kitty's Kisses' studio album. She managed to make grown adults balancing on a railroad rail sound like enormous fun in 'Walkin' The Track', which became my favourite track (no pun intended) on the album. She also sounds amazing on the 'Giant' cast recording, which of course also has board favourite du jour Brian D'rcy James all through it.

Her solo CDs are also really good! I love her rendition of "When Did I Fall In Love?" on her live "She Loves Him" album. (Of course, she also sounded amazing as Thea in the more recent Encores production of Fiorello!)
