This week I saw The King and I on Broadway and it was fantastic. Kelli O Hara as Anna was the best performance I have seen in a while. The show has been a favourite of mine for a long time and I really hope that NBC would consider doing the King and I live, instead of continuing doing just fairy tales like The Wiz. I am sure it would be nice to watch, but not at all enthusiastic about this years choice.
The opening scene was just epic and personally I found this show the best since South Pacific. Really looking forward for Sher s production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Yeah, because they did such a bang up job with their last R&H musical. Ahem.
How was Jose?

The Sound of Music was a fairytale?

""The Sound of Music was a fairytale?"
Well, The Sound Of Music is not exactly factual - and it does kind of have a Cinderella story of the orphan girl marrying a Prince - well a Baron.

I would think equal amounts of fiction in both Sound of Music and King and I.

Well The King and I takes place in a palace, has a King, and a whole bunch of Princes and Princesses. It even has magic beasts that make water able to be walked on. Sounds a lot like a fairy tale to me.

As much as I enjoyed Peter Pan Live. I was one to predict the decrease of the viewers rates, and I do have a feeling that we will get the same amount of viewers with the Wiz But time will tell.
It was Ken final performance and personally I felt he left something to be desired. His diction was not hundred per cent right. That being said I truly enjoyed everything about this show and would definitely return in the near future.

Really when you think about the writers works they were always bringing together people from different worlds and class structures.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization is very choosey about to whom they give the rights and I think that they might have a problem with a one night live television production with a cast tied to current popular music.
This production of The King and I, easily recordable at home if not eventually made available by streaming and DVD, would become the most viewed production of the show and I really don't think that they would find it "dignified" enough for one of the R&H big five.
