Very excited that they will be doing this production! After seeing Carousel last spring, I'm most excited to see who they bring in. Any ideas to who will play leads?

Any chance Laura Osnes could do this?

Probably depends on the success of her new show at PaperMill

Just to clarify, this isn't the LCT production, correct? That doesn't go on tour until November 2016. Interesting that the Lyric programmed this while the LCT revival is running...

This has been planned since at least 2013. The Lyric planned to produce all five major R&H musicals and have already done Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, and Carousel. The King and I was simply the next one they planned on doing.

I was at the Lyric last night for Cinderella (fantastic production by the way) and there was an exhibit of the top ten women of the Lyric opera and one was legendary costume designer Sue Blaine. It stated in her description that the production of the The King and I done at Theater Du Chalet will be the production seen at the Lyric next year. Some photos from that production

I would love to see either Christiane Noll or Kate Baldwin as Anna.

I'm excited to hear about this. I'll definitely check it out. And thanks for the heads up on Cinderella Broadway west. It's odd because I remember seeing giant billboards advertising both Sound of Music and Carousel but I haven't seen any for this. (Maybe I've just been traveling so much I didn't notice. Or maybe just because Carousel was that GIANT billboard on the Ohio street freeway exit that is so prominent.) I really need to be keeping an eye on the theatre in Chicago website so I don't miss anything good!
