Really asking-curious- I was surprised to see The King and I at TKTS lately at 40% and 50% discount. Was Ken Watanabe the big draw and the show is suddenly available due to his recent departure? I wouldn't think so but can't think of any other reason.
I believe kelli is on vacation this week.
OMG well thank goodness for this thread! I had no idea she was on vacation cause i was about to rush this tomorrow! I didn't really think anything about The King and I being on tkts as shows like Something Rotten, American in Paris, Beautiful, Kinky Boots, Neverland, Phantom, Matilda, and Curious Incident are frequently up there and always have million dollar weeks.
Thank you, juice! That more than explains it! I didn't read anywhere about her vacation this week.

I was there tonight for rush and it was pretty empty. I'd say half the loge and the back rows of the orchestra. Such a shame since Betsy Morgan was incredible! A stunning production even without its star leads!
Kelli returns on Sunday from vacation.
DAMN! I can't believe Kelli is that much of a draw. I mean, i know she just won a Tony but wow. I thought those tickets would get scooped up quickly on tkts but i guess not. They want to see Kelli!
Kelli is _the_ biggest draw for me of any performer. I would (and have) schedule a trip to NYC to see any musical that she is in. Such gorgeous singing and wonderful acting!
Still, she couldn't pull an audience at "Bridges of Madison County." Even with Pasquale at her side. They couldn't break even many weeks. It's star plus role plus show, as always.

She did also just win the Tony award. That's going to elevate her "status" or whatever to non theatre goers.

A friend of mine was very disappointed not to see Kelli this weekend months after buying her ticket. Is there a website that lists prominent Broadway perfoirmers' vacation schedules? I Googled relevant terms but could not find any current such website.

Telecharge has listed this absence for over a month. Other than Telecharge -- which seems to almost always post scheduled absences that are received with some notice -- the Broadway Understudies twitter account is the only other resource I can think of, and not an exhaustive one.
I feel sorry that your friend wasn't disappointed, but there were certainly ways to ascertain the news of this absence in advance.

Yes, I had told her to always check with Telecharge/Ticketmaster for such updates, but I guess she did not.

Like the previous poster said, it was listed on telecharge for quite some time. But for future reference, LCT is pretty understanding when it comes to refunds. I'm not sure if the same rules apply for scheduled absences, but when Kelli was out sick for a week they offered full refunds. Your friend probably could've called and rescheduled prior to the performance.
**** that, people can easily miss a tiny little message. Its not the customers fault
If a customer misses a message that is clearly stated on either Telecharge or Ticketmaster, then that actually IS their own fault.
people can easily miss it. I wish she would have gone to the box office before the show and exchanged her tickets. Although i heard Betsy is fantastic in the role, and one of the best fantines

The so-called "tiny little message" is actually in the same size type as the rest of the Telecharge page, located directly underneath the cast list, and O'Hara's name has a prominent asterisk next to it. So yeah, not easy to miss at all actually.

I was going to give up on this show because it was sold out and rush was not available. What was rush like? Is Kelli on vacation until Sunday, August 2nd??

Kelli's vacation ended yesterday and her only scheduled days out right now, per Telecharge, are:
Thursday, September 3 at 7 through Saturday, September 5 at 2pm
Saturday, October 17 at 8pm
Tuesday, December 1 at 7pm
Sunday, December 20 at 3pm

Per the box office attendant (who was not very nice might I add) they haven't had any rush at all except when Kelli is out. Maybe that will change in the next few months but he told me not to count on it.
I am so over rude people at the box office !
How is that rude? The box office person answered a person. Go home, Philly, I think you are experiencing being drunk for the first time.
