I absolutely loved it. I was surprised by a comment below that said that it was a waste of time. I just don’t understand some people. This show is very spiritual and deep and it does make you think about your own mortality. I think some people really don’t want that out of a Broadway show. They want to be amused. I would recommend this show to anyone who loves great music and who wants to be challenged to think about what matters in life. It’s so well done.


Did anyone else who has seen Either this iteration of the musical or any of the others, find it surprising that thing is so overly spiritual? I don’t know whether it is conscious on his part. The love story and the story of the closing of the shipyard are both compelling, but it’s the spiritual themes that give this musical great depth.

I really disliked this. Fist off, the sound was terrible. The changes made to the story from the Broadway version were awful. Hated that they changed son to daughter and that Freddy was such a dick. Hated the “happy ending” and that the daughter just wanted to leave and join a band rather than the son being pulled to the sea like his father was. Reminded me of the changed made to NYCC’s The Life.

It was 100x better on Broadway and I loved it, but this new production is god awful. It's intermission and I can barely stay awake. The original had so much heart in it and this production feels like a sanitation with all its heavy handedness and cliches. There's no nuance. Every plot point is flown through because there are 4 different plot lines to get through.

id leave now but I have a night show at LCT to stick around for.
