Love Jane Krakowski! Wish I could have seen this cabaret live. Looking forward to hearing the CD. Seems to be a great mix of new/unknown songs and legendary standards.

Its stunning, a real treat. She handles it brilliantly.
Now get her over here!
Sadly, we don't have this kind of cabaret especially with the one true great venue, Pizza On The Park, awaiting closure! These events in London are very very few and far between.
Wasn't so in the 80s and early 90s.

I tried desperately to get a ticket to see her in Guys and Dolls but could never get a ticket for dates I was in London coz it was sold out to Ewan MacGregor fans lol. But the night after she finished her West End run (a Sunday) I went to see Sunday In The Park With George at the Choc Factory. The place all seemed to be in darkness and the main entrance was closed (it was an early preview). A young woman with an American accent came up to me and asked did I know if there was another entrance. When I turned around I saw it was Jane Krakowski! She was lovely and even more stunning looking than she appears on TV!

The Laziest Gal In Town

I really woke up when I saw the thread title - the London Gay Men's Chorus (of which I'm a member) sing this song, in a medley with David Byrne's 'Wicked and Lazy', in our current repertoire (next performance, this Friday night in the biggest building in Poland, the Palace of Science and Culture, Warsaw).

Jane Krakowski is totally fab. I had the pleasure of seeing her in 'Guys and Dolls' in London, the City Center Encores production of 'Damn Yankees' and, especially, her amazing show-stopping appearance in 'Nine' with Antonio Banderas.

The sooner they call a halt to '30 Rock', the sooner we'll see her back on stage in London (fingers crossed).

Well I listened to this album on loop last night (thanks Mama).

Utterly classy and beguiling!

I'd love to see her perform this live- the links make her sound totally enchanting.

Scripps-ha ha indeed she did.

Really wish we had more events like this in London, is it lack of venues or lack of audience-can't imagine there wouldn't be sufficent interest for ticket sales in small venues?

'An Old-Fashioned Girl Playing Dress-Up Games'
By STEPHEN HOLDEN

Published: October 7, 2009

A gold digger, a femme fatale, a sex-crazed she-devil in a red dress: Jane Krakowski toys lightly with such images in her frothy cabaret act, “Has Sold Out ... Tickets Available,” at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency. And yes, she wore a shiny red dress at Tuesday’s opening-night show. For the very first number, Cole Porter’s “Laziest Gal in Town,” she sprawled sinuously across the piano (played by her musical director, Michael Kosarin), a delectable real-life pinup striking Marilyn Monroe poses.

The program is an anthology of songs both famous and obscure, loaded with saucy double entendres, that were once staples for the likes of Eartha Kitt, Mae West and Ethel Waters. What she brings to numbers that these and other forerunners have mined for every imaginable shade of lubricity and seduction is an intractable innocence. Instead of danger and challenge, she conveys a wholesome agreeability.

Ms. Krakowski has the blond good looks and the moves to play a more seriously avid variation of the tease. But onstage her libido, if not exactly under lock and key, was set to a low flame. For all the flaunting of her charms, she projected the personality of what used to be called “a sweet, old-fashioned girl” playing games of dress-up. And her inclusion of the Jerome Kern-Johnny Mercer standard “I’m Old Fashioned” as a change of pace reinforced that impression.

In academic terms, you might say the show is a screwball deconstruction of cultural stereotypes. Her vocal echoes of Betty Boop were underlined by bouncy, reed-inflected pop-swing arrangements that sometimes evoked dance-marathon music, especially during a rapidly accelerating version of “Wacky Dust” at the end of which Ms. Krakowski feigned near-collapse from exhaustion. An updated version of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” zigzagged back and forth between a traditional show-tune arrangement and a cabaret rap version.

For the show‘s coup de grâce, she picked up a cellphone to sing a revised version of “Zip,” from “Pal Joey,” which Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the creators of the musical “Hairspray,” turned into “Tweet.” The clever up-to-date new lyrics deluged the audience with dropped celebrity names (everyone from Brangelina to Jon and Kate Gosselin to Mackenzie Phillips) and tidbits of gossip. (“Since Madonna’s dating Jesus she’s blessed/Tweet!/They’ve a manger now on Central Park West.”) It was so much of the moment that Ms. Krakowski wondered if it might not be out of date by the end of the show. Might the song become a continuously updated musical blog?

Jane Krakowski performs through Oct. 17 at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, 540 Park Avenue, at 61st Street; (212) 339-4095, feinsteinsattheregency.com.
