re: The Light in the Piazza Extends Through January 1, 2006

THANK GOD! I had just received the offer of two tickets to any show for a graduation present. With my parents moving to Newark at the end of August, this is going to be my destination when I get home for Christmas break. re: The Light in the Piazza Extends Through January 1, 2006 It's so funny, because I had JUST been telling a friend, "Well, I want to see The Light in the Piazza if it extends through December." What a dream come true! This score is just SO gorgeous. I've seen DRS, and Spamalot and Spelling Bee are going to be around to see with their ticket sales.

I was planning on going to New York in the summer, before LITP ended, but now I can go in Thanksgiving, which is SO much more convenient, and I'll be able to stay longer. YAYYYYyyyy!

YES! This is excellent news.
And nice to know this great cast is going to get better pay than LORT offers, especially Victoria and Kelli.
I think Equity Broadway minimum is now $1473. Or close to it.

The current Equity minimum under the Standard Production contract for Broadway is $1381 plus benefits.

Thenardier-

Caroline, or Change was an excellent show. Did you see it and that is your opinion or are you assuming such because it closed? Caroline had every bit of the artist integrity and merit of Light in the Piazza. No one can ever say why shows never find their audiences. Caroline deserved more of a chance than it got.

Caroline had some stiff competition. Wicked was the show to see last year and it pretty much rolled right over everything but Avenue Q.

I love The Light in the Piazza. I think it is one of the most beautiful shows I have ever seen and it should have won Best Musical over Scamalot but this wasn't a highly competitive season. The majority of the shows that opened this year were dismal failures.

Anyway, don't go knocking Caroline and say that it wasn't a good show. LITP being a success doesn't make Caroline a bad show.

Also, for the record, minimum salary for a LORT A theatre (Is Lincoln Center an A?) is $800. That contract, looking at the documentation I have, was set to expire on Feb 27. I don't know if a new contract has been negotiated yet.

Lincoln Center is a LORT A, but shifts to the Standard Production Contract after 12 weeks. I can't find a good recent link from AEA itself that has the current Equity minimum, but simply perusing the recent AEA Broadway job postings, the minimum is still $1381.

Check this listing for the upcoming auditions for the Broadway revival of "A Chorus Line":

Can someone tell me what LORT A stands for? Also what does IMO stand for?

LORT stands for League of Regional Theaters. A is Lincoln Center's classification with Equity. I believe classifictaion is based on size, with A being largest, then B and C. Equity has tons of info about how all that works on their website.

IMO stands for In My Opinion.

I am fortunate to live near Lincoln Center, and am thrilled that I get to walk by the enormous Piazza 'flag' in front until January. It always puts a smile on my face.
