Live From Licoln Center is not yet listing this on their website (see link below) - so I would not jump for joy until an official announcement. (Although I for one am pricing DVRs as I type...) Also, a few points if it does happen:
1) The telecast is live. Not taped. Live. The cast will be whoever reports for work that night - meaning, if Victoria Clark (god forbid) is sick that night - we will see Patti Cohenour instead.
2) Kelli O'Hara and Matt Morrison will NOT be brought back for this telecast.
3) A commercial DVD will not be released.
So, keep checkin that website and here's hoping this comes to fruition. I've been hoping for this telecast for months now...
Live From Lincoln Center
This is so very cool. Can't wait!
I've written three letters to them in the past year asking for this. What a dream come true!
I too will be investing in a DVR JUST for this purpose. And I will make a backup copy to use when the laser eventually melts my first copy from constant viewing.
Oy. If Victoria Clark is sick, I'll jump out a window. A first-story window, but a window nonetheless.
I've just recently brought the cd off of iTunes and I am starting to fall in love with the cd (not to mention Matthew Morrison's voice!) The song that got me hooked was seeing him sing Passeggiata on broadway.com.
WHY AM I ON THE WRONG DAMN CONTINENT?????!!!!
Clearly, I'm going to have devise some clever scheme to get a copy of this across the Atlantic...

It is in the recording agreement that the broadcast only be aired once. (with a repeat broadcast later in the week). Because of licensing issues and fees and such, they sign an agreement never to distribute them for dvd/video sales. Nor are they allowed to re-broadcast them at a later date.
I reccommend everyone record it upon airing, cause this is the only chance you'll get.
^^ Exactly. Those of us who recorded NYC Opera's 1991 production of A Little Night Music on "Live From Lincoln Center" are very happy campers. :)
O HAPPY DAY!!!!!
I'm recording it on two VCRs and TiVo, just in case. I am so, so clever.

This will air in Canada, no?
Amen MYB - the NYCO "Night Music" is one of my cherished posessions. Maureen Moore, Regina Resnik, Sally Anne Howes *sigh*
I swear I watch that "Night Music" at least once a year.
Such a shame it didn't transfer to Broadway. I LOVE that cast.
Slightly off topic, but could you guys list some of the other shows you mentioned to be on this program? Like Contact, A Little Night music, etc. There *is* one place to see most of these. The Museum of TV and Radio. I'm a member there, and realizing what a rarity these programs are, it'd be great to get a bit of a list to check for next time I go! Thanks.
For someone who had no clue what "A Little Night Music" was in 1991, learning of the existence of those tapes is just depresing.
Outstanding news!
Yes, I was one who recorded "A Little Night Music" in 1991. "Piazza" will be another keeper.
wickedrentq- Shows I can remember being broadcast include "Candide" from NYCO in the early/mid 80's with Erie Mills, the "Night Music" in 91. More recent entries have included "Twelth Night" with Helen Hunt, Paul Rudd et al, "Contact" and "Passion" with LuPone. The instances of a Live from Lincoln Center broadcast of a theatre related event are rare. The telecasts are mostly reserved for NYPhil concerts, Mostly Mozart event, the occasional City Opera production... but every once in a while a "Piazza" sneaks in there - and is always welcome!
hey, since we are on the topic, what is your favorite song from Piazza?
Favorite song... Hmm... I don't know. There are SO MANY good ones. The first one that comes to mind is the title song, then the Octet, then The Beauty is, and it's reprise, the list goes on and on and on...
"Say It Somehow" is the most beautiful duet song I've heard in my life. Love Matt Morrison!!!
Playbill.com appears to be saying it is not a done deal & the June 15 date will probably be the date if an agreement is reached.
Since it's live, does that mean it will be at 5 pm here on the west coast?
Are you sure Kelli won't be asked back for a special performance?
Kelli has been with Piazza since the beginning workshops. The role was written for her. I'm not saying Katie Clarke isn't a good Clara (though I have my thoughts on that subject!), but it just seems more respectful to preserve this show with Kelli as Clara considering the effort, time, and heart she's put into the role.
Umm, Kelli originally played Franca...so the role of Clara was definitely not written specifically for her...

yeah, Celia Keenan-Bolger was originally Clara
and i am so psyched about this! i get back from france on the 14th, the day before it airs!!! (hey, im missing the tonys, so at least i have something to come home to! :) )
but i really hope i have a recordable dvd player by then...
if i dont though, is it illegal to send the video over the internet of that performance? it would have been televised, and all...
yeah
