This is very sad. Maybe the theatres should all do it independently. Like the one in SMASH!
I feel a blackout coming. All five boroughs and North Jersey.

Jesus Christ, that's frightening. Wish Joan was around to roast this woofman.
People should go to the Leagues Facebook page at least to make their anger known.

Please use the hashtag #Dim4Joan (AnnoyingActorFriend's idea). Like Jordan said, at least use it to express our, because the chances of the Broadway League changing their kids are slim.

How can they dim the lights for James Gandolfini but not for Joan?
Gandolfini Broadway career:
An extra in the Baldwin/Lange Streetcar Named Desire
played the Rod Steiger role in On The Waterfront - which was a flop
originated one of the fathers in God of Carnage (Tony nom)
Rivers career:
wrote and starred in Fun City - which flopped
replacement for the mother (leading role) in Broadway Bound
wrote and starred in Sally Marr - (Tony nom)
The woman brought two shows to Broadway. How can they ignore her?
EXCELLENT point about Gandolfini.
I emailed the League and signed the petition and will tweet.
“Under our criteria people need to have been very active recently in the theater, or else be synonymous with Broadway – people who made their careers here, or kept it up,” Ms. St. Martin said in an interview on Monday."
Gandolfini was on Broadway in 2009 and his career started on Broadway. There's your answer.
Also, this thing might be personal.

I sure hope we learn Ms. st. Martin resigns from her position after today. I tweeted, it's beginning to catch on.

Joan brought wrote and starred in two plays on Broadway. To me, that trumps Gandolfini.
Again, she said RECENTLY. 2009 is recently. 1994 is not.

So we don't have access to flip the switch but what if our own tribute were organized.
We need one individual (or more) to stand in front of each Broadway theater. At 8pm and for one full minute that individual (or more) blow an air-horn.

Is it really that difficult to dim the lights for an artist? Or is this just professional pride?

They should have dimmed the lights for Ms. StMartin's photo shoot

Gotham...I would imagine that they are all at odds over contacting the Union to get someone to flip the switch. Then someone finding someone to count from 1 to 60 in unison. Do you use a male or female? Do you want to be neutral with casting? Possible difficult to find someone reliable to count all together. Then if they decide to opt out of someone counting do you hire someone from the prop department to get a clock to be next to the light switch. Do you use digital or traditional with the second hand? You know - this is probably more difficult than we all thought.

They should dim the lights for Melissa's career.
I think it's funny that Audra McDonald sang a song , Hugh Jackman sang a song, and the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus sang a broadway medley but the broadway league couldn't respect her contribution to the theatre.

Feel free to use this anyone, I don't have a twitter but for some reason I just love this quote!
"I'd rather see a bad play, than a great movie."
