Cinderella in October, Lady & the Tramp in March, then Little Mermaid in October! 'The Little Mermaid' the Next Disney Platinum Edition DVD?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

YES! I love these versions! I own most of them, although not all. I have Snow White, Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and some others. I knew that Cinderella was coming soon, because it has not yet been released on dvd, and I can not wait until The Little Mermaid comes out!

Are you serious? THAT much? Wow. ALADDIN is still in stores - get the Box Set. re: 'The Little Mermaid' the Next Disney Platinum Edition DVD?

And in terms of bonus features, ALADDIN, I would say, is best. There's also a 20 minute documentary on Alan Menken and his work on the Disney films. And a seperate 7 minute part of the "making of" about his and Howard Ashman's work on Aladdin.

Perhaps the DVD release will coincide with the Broadway mounting of the show? Disney likes to do things like that. Mermaid is slated for 2007, and Oct 2006 is very close.

Not greedy at all - however many others have the same idea. Who knows what the demand will be.

Also, in 2007, Disney plans to switch to HD-DVD, so then everything will be re-released onto HD-DVD. (All speculation)

oh i see..if I actually CLICKED the link I would have read it still is 2006.

I've known this since 2001. I've been waiting...:)

it's original date was sometime in 2008 so it moved up. With my luck it will probably come out in early 2007 though.

There is a slate for Platinum Editions, however it has gotten mixed up because they are now releasing two per year. And it's always subject to change.

101 Dalmatians is slated for October 2008 - but it seems this might change to March 2008. Who knows.

Hurry! It's this week ONLY!

BestBuy.com, too, for those without a local store.

And for you hicks out there:

BEST BUY is a large electronics store that sells appliances, computers, televisions, video game systems, DVD players, audio equipment, etc.

They call it "Best Buy" because it's the best price the company can afford without charging arms & legs - 'cuz the consumer DEFINITELY ain't getting the best buy! (With the exception of this sale, of course, but that's Disney's doing re: 'The Little Mermaid' the Next Disney Platinum Edition DVD? )
