I remember reading articles about it a while back. An English-language production with the Met orchestra and directed by Lear deBessonet. Any news of it still happening or did the pandemic kill it?

It won't be for a while since they're still doing renovations at the Delacorte

The Delacorte will be reopening next summer- they’ve announced Twelfth Night will be the inaugural production.
DeBessonet’s Magic Flute was never formally announced- it was mentioned in a few interviews back in 2018 and 2019 as being planned for summer 2020. I don’t know if there are plans to return to it.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
