Read this this morning on the way to work and thought it was worth posting. It was in the Op-Ed page of the main section, so hopefully this information will reach more people than it would if it was in the Arts section.

Kinda off topic, but I wanted to see Lewis Black next weekend in CA and when I checked Ticketmaster for Tickets, there was a convenience charge of $10.50 plus a "Building Facility Charge" of $3.50.
wtf is that? I understand Ticketmaster fees, but I've never heard of a 'Building Facility Charge'.
I said screw it and decided not to buy the tickets. That's like $14 on top of the ticket price. Crazy!

Posted: 2/6/09 at 10:39pmYou've never heard of a building facility charge? You've paid one every time you've been to a Broadway show. It's the facility fee. That money (supposedly) is used for the upkeep of the venue.

Posted: 2/7/09 at 12:20amDid ticketmaster up their fees? I swear it was $7 before or is it based on the state the venue is located in?
