re: The New tkts Booth

The red steps look sort of odd to me. And if they're being made of glass, wouldn't that just produce a constant clunking of people going up and down? That would be a little annoying.

Other than that, it looks good.

re: The New tkts Booth

I actually like the current set-up...on a Saturday afternoon in August my family got right through, no waiting.

The new one does look nice, but if the steps are glass and still a bit translucent I know some people that are afraid of heights that won't like it so much...

I like the current set up too. Just last night I walked up with no wait for Forbidden Broadway tix, and it's under a roof, no sun or rain. I don't even want to look at any other plans.

re: The New tkts Booth

I was always very fond of the original TKTS booth. Sure the waits were long, but meeting other theatre fans, hearing steel drums or bad karoke and the naked cowboy was half the fun.

I'm not sure what I really think of the stairs but maybe they added them in for possible concert events, like Broadway on Broadway, in which case I totally approve of them.

I'll have to see it in person when it's finnished to make up my mind.

I also like the current set up. Especially when it's really hot or raining.

re: The New tkts Booth

I love the way it is now. Both times I've done it there it was quick. I did on a Saturday night in June, it took me 5 minutes. I went during the Flea Market and the lne was huge, and yet it was only 15 min to get through.

re: The New tkts Booth

What is the current setup? Can someone take a pictures?

It sounds great in theory that you can rest on those steps overlooking Times Square, but we all know that after a month those steps will be full of turd and nobody will want to sit on them...

re: The New tkts Booth

yeah, i sort of like the new layout, i think the steps look sort of odd though, but i also like the spot they have it now, and wish they could just keep it there
but i never use the TKTS because my parents feel like wasting money so i guess it doesnt matter... :P

re: The New tkts Booth

As long as it has more windows (like it is now) than before, I'm happy.

re: The New tkts Booth

Obviously, the design mimics an outdoor amphitheatre, the first form of public seating. I love it. What an inspired idea.

Like I said, it sounds good in theory...

re: The New tkts Booth

As much as I will miss the old booth, I look forward to sitting on those steps at night in the middle of a bustling Times Square and just taking it all in.

As long as you can find a place to sit amid the snoozing homeless people.
#17

re: The New tkts Booth

I was wondering about that, are they gonna allow homeless people on the steps?
#18

re: The New tkts Booth

I feel like the first few months they wont allow anyone on the steps...

re: The New tkts Booth

Wow, that didn't cross my mind. There always seem to be police in the Square, maybe they will control that?

re: The New tkts Booth

Those steps could've come in handy on my last trip because my mom and I were looking for a place to sit to eat our bagles (ate on the steps of the Booth Theatre instead). But I think it will be nice to sit and relax in the middle of Time Square...however I do miss the big TKTS banners that made up the original booth.

re: The New tkts Booth

How does the TKTS both work now?
Did they take down the time-square one to rebuild it?
