I have heard several things about how Disney may bring "The Little Mermaid" to Broadway, but I would very much prefer to see them produce shows like "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" and "Hurcules", what does everyone else think?

I'd much prefer Disney shows to be in Disney World and Disneyland. The fact that three Disney shows are running concurrently on Broadway is a testament to the fact that art in theatre is dying. A fourth would simply confirm the death.

If they had to close one of the currently running Disney musicals, which one would you prefer to close, and why?

Beauty and the Beast. You can see the exact same show at the Disney World park, MGM with less elaborate set and costumes.
I think I would prefer to see "The Lion King" go, but thats just me!
The Little Mermaid? How would they do that? Hunchback would probably be ok. What about Pinocchio? That would be good for kids.

I really really want to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Broadway because it's certainly one of Disney's darkest movies, but it also has very funny moments and it has a very positive message. I think it would do very well! Also, even though it's not a Disney movie, I would love to see Fox's animated film Anastasia be brought to life on stage as well!
Yes!!! Anastasia would be absolutely amazing! Check out my cast:
Anya: Sutton, of course!
Dimitri: Gavin Creel!
Grandmother: Julie Andrews!
That would be an awesome cast for Anastasia!!!
See Ya!

I would like to see beauty and the beast go.....AIDA is awesome....and it is not a movie.....and lion king is just staged great. Aladdin would be good. Anastasia. Hey if they are doing Shrek why cant they do Finding Nemo....lol....Hey Toy Story would probably be a great show production wise (costumes, lights, sets)
I agree with suggestions such as "Hurcules" and "Hunchback Of Notre Dame", but I think that if they open shows like Shrek, Little Mermaid, and shows of that nature, that the whole unique effect of going to see a "BROADWAY SHOW" would begin to deminish. I think that shows like this would remind me of going to see "Blue's Clues - Live". I think "Hurcules" and especially "Hunchback Of Notre Dame" could possibly work though, depending on how they are done!
I loved all those Disney ones. But I must agree that too much Disney might mean the end of the theater and more giant parent companies.
Anastasia would be perfect and really cute.

I agree w/ the post above. Leave the Disney "ooh ahhs" in Florida and California for cryin' out loud. Is it just me or does anyone else think it's about time for The Lion King to go bye-bye? Sorry...Disney just irks me. The movies are decent but there's no place on Broadway for mindless theatre. Granted, they do draw in families, etc. but there's 3 shows currently playing.
I personally think that the two most practical musicals that Disney could produce would be "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame", and "Anastasia". I would welcome those two, and would definitly look forward to seeing them!!!

I would pay GOOD money to see Emily as Ursula. She read the part in the reading... I'm sure she kicked some mad mermaid behind. :P
Come on, tell me Ursula isn't the PERFECT part in which to...
A.) Belt/Speak Sing.
B.) Yell at someone.
C.) Feel herself up.
It just follows the perfect Emily pattern. So, yay! Emily should play Ursula. Period.
It seems that certain conversations/topics are being revived! Didn't we already discuss this topic and the "dream roles" topic?
I still think Aladdin would be great show.
I hope The Little Mermaid goes beyond a reading, because I think Kerry would be great as Ariel.

I think the reason people dispise Disney musicals (excluding Aida from this for a second) is because Disney takes dark stories and dillutes them for children into Fairy Tales. Then those diluted versions become movies, picture books, and now Musicals.
The reason people are bitter are about Aida is because it's a) rock b) adapted from a "great opera" so I've heard and c) an off-spring of RENT's musical genre.
I wouldn't mind seeing these Disney stories come to stage, but I hope they stay in their original versions and we don't see talking Elephants and Monkeys walking next to a man in a loin cloth.

Yes, I hate when they dilute stories. Someof the changes, I think, work better than the originals (Aladdin), but a LOT don't
I hate when people get bitter about 'rock' scores. Some of them are great.
